Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Did you watch the Derby last night? Holy Cespedes, he's beautiful. And Bryce Harper is just incredible. I would apologize for thread drift, but baseball is ... non-fiction, right?!
I was a bouncing baseball fool last night. I will get to see him when I'm out in Cali in two weeks. SO excited. And totally non-fiction.
Have you read any of the articles about the process he and his family went through to defect from Cuba? Crazy shit.
No, but Stephen was telling me some of it. Unimaginable. And he was so sweet with his trophy!
I'm all about Matt Harvey, of course. And David Wright, who continues to be the most adorable thing ever to adorable on a major league field. I loved how well Cuddyer did, too, because apparently he took flak for nominating him.
well ... having demonstrated my ignorance of organized sports ...
It's okay!
I will say, though, sports offers a lot of opportunities for watching very athletic, very lovely men in action, and in sometimes nicely tight uniforms. Just so you know.
My old seats were behind the bullpen, close to where the players stretched out before a game, and I can attest to Amy's assertations. Lovely, indeed.
Oh my.
Just this once, and only this once, I love Baseball because the fact that the All Star game preempted SYTYCD meant that I got to meet...Nigel Lythgoe! Y'all, Nigel Lythgoe was on my plane tonight. Squeeeee! And I got to say hello to him and thank him for putting SYTYCD on my TV and providing such a great forum for dancers. I kind of had to say something to him after I stopped right in front of his seat in first class while I was on my way back to my coach seat waiting for folks to put their bags in the overhead bins, looked down at his familiar face and then heard his very British voice ask the flight attendant for water, and promptly exclaimed quite loudly "Oh my god!"
Hey, it was a shock. He laughed, though. I imagine he gets crazy dance fans shouting "Oh my god" at him a lot.
You are the perfect person to have that chance meeting. How cool!!!
