Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Nico/Alexis contemporary: I'm unmoved. It was ok I guess, but...I like contemp best when it gives me feels. This did not, for all the "OMG it's a sequel and she's back from war!!" thing. Maybe I am a philistine.
I am loving Christina as judge!! Actual critiques and notes, even if I don't totally agree with her on some stuff.
Blueprint/Brittany: broadway (I hate this song, kinda, so I am prejudiced)
Are the costume crack whores on strike this week? Because it seems like the costumes are mostly quite lovely. Shocking! Poor Blueprint is trying, but I'm not getting it from him. She seems good though. What a shame.
Blueprint did not look good and really out of his element. I think not only because of the dancing but also because he has a more reserved personality. In Vegas he got called on that a few times.
Jasmine M/Alan: Girl, at least you are getting a ballroom boy doing those lifts and not an animator or something! She looks awkward. There are several parts where her knees are spread apart at awkward angles and I can't think it's supposed to be like that because it's so unflattering. ...so much so that I didn't even notice him. Oops.
I really don't like Nigel and his comments, I wish there was a Nigel mute button.
Paul/Mackenzie: Huh, I kinda dug that. I mean, there were bits of the choreo that were silly or looked a bit too hard, but mostly it was pretty darn good! Oh, and Paul should work on his facial expressions, he was strange looking at a few points. Maybe his ballroom backgound?
Carlos/Mariah : Aw, I like this one too! It was lovely. (Mary, what do you mean by the other side of the rainbow???)
I feel like the judges totally made the wrong decision based on how people did tonight. Ugh. "America got it wrong" my ass--judges picked the wrong one of Americas choices maybe (well, of the boys at least, i don't have strong feelings on the girls)
I really don't like Nigel and his comments, I wish there was a Nigel mute button.
One season I had a yuff of him and I did indeed mute.
Fikshun/Amy: Eh. It was OK. She seemed to hold her own a'ight; I felt like he was not outshining her in most moments, but it felt more like he was holding back mostly (a few good moments though) rather than her bringing it up to his level. But still. Could've been way worse.
