I'm not sure how old he is, but I heard him use the word 'newfangled' one time, so he's gotta be pretty far gone.

I'm watching. I didn't love the auditions, but I wanted to see how the weekly format worked. I liked it overall, especially how there's only one spoon up for immunity and you see how the mentor factors in. Also, how in the elimination round the cooks hear them discuss the tastes and how the mentors vote 1 up/1 down and then review.

Thrive to spite them

I was glad to see that the contestants could hear the judges. The guy who made the West Indian curry - the comments (that we saw) weren't that it wasn't real curry but it lacked salt. But he seemed to think they just didn't get it was a different style of curry.

I do not like the cocky guy - I don't know his name,-he was the one said he didn't like comfort food. I kind of wanted him to be on the bottom.

Agreed.

I'm also not on board with Team Diane and was a bit sad to see her do well.

Because books.

I enjoyed it -- it puts just enough spin on the format to make it interesting. I wish Ludo would slow down when he speaks, though. I can't understand half of what he says.

Unsurprisingly, Ludo is music to my ears. "Oh la la, Sarah, you are Baghdad."

I posted on FB a video from the Benji Schwimmer class I took this weekend. Now, mind you, the woman in that video was probably the best student in the class-she'd just won one of the competitions at a local convention weekend. But what was awesome was that the first two classes of the day were basic--there were a few people who hadn't hardly done any West Coast--and I think those were actually the best. It's always interesting to learn basics from a new teacher, and hear their spin on it. And it was fascinating, truly. Not sure how much of I managed to incorporate into my dancing, but still. Plus he was pretty hilarious.

Apparently he used to date someone in Seattle, and they went to the bar next to the ballroom, and somebody saw the owner (who is gay) and was like "Hey, hey, teach my friend a dance! How about West Coast?" and she was tired and busy and was like "Uh, no, that's too hard...here, have a salsa step"...and then someone was like "Dude, you didn't recognize that guy? That was Benji Schwimmer!" Hah!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Amazing Race starts again tomorrow! I hate that they name each season separately in the listings.
