Shafeek? Yeah, he was amazing.

Swiss(?) Ballet dude, amazing.

Exorcist? I was scared, but then glad I got to see it. I would like to see how it will translate to the show.

Again, no girls I loved. The mom was good, but she was made adorbs by the kid. But she's too old. What are they going to do, partner her with an 18 year old? And what is she going to do for a career? I don't mean to be all dream quashy, but you chose your kids and that's fine, but that was the choice. In other fields it doesn't matter so much, but dance? A 14 year old is too old to seriously pursue ballet.

I was Tivo'd, so I clearly missed some of the choreo, but did we see next to nothing of that? The choreo is one of my favorite parts! I bet we barely see any of the work in Vegas, too. I don't care about the overhyped stories, show me the dance!

I think there will be a learning curve with the new format. It could make it a leaner tighter show but I bet it won't.

I haven't seen Dallas yet but I have a date with my DVR tonight.

I think we didn't see much of the choreo round because it sucked. I do not have high hopes for choreography dreamed up by Robert and Courtney. I am really hoping that other cities get different former contestants.

I agree that I'm still trepedatious about the format changes, but dammit, I love this show. I'm all full up of dancer love this morning. My people, my people.

Because books.

Probably true, but if I hadn't seen the kids or known how old she was, I wouldn't have had a clue. She's in awesome shape, and she was really good.

In a slightly SYTYCD related rant, is anyone here watching Dance Moms: Miami? (I watch both the original Dance Moms and the new one. Don't judge! They are gruesomely fascinating) Anyway, one of the studio owners and coaches/choreographers on the show is SYTYCD Viktor which is just beyond and adds exponentially to my delight in the show. But for real anyway, what I was going to say is that his choreography for his kids is everything I hate about competition studios in a nutshell. Some of his kids are really talented but the so-called choreography they are being taught consists of nothing but leg extensions. So many penchés held for minutes on end. And making seven year olds do pirouettes before they are even grounded in good technique so they think a tipsy tumbles triple turn is better than a solidly supported single. And a whole bunch of reaching out mournfully towards the audience with constipation face and hair flinging and putting a whole bunch of kids under the age of 12 in bondage gear and that is everything I hate about competition kids in a nutshell but it's not their fault because that's what they are taught. And 10 years from now those kids are going to be trying out for SYTYCD and that's sad.

Anyway, Dance Moms: Miami. Such a good show.

Heh.

I don't watch Dance Moms because I can't bear it. But I, um, read the recaps. But I haven't seen Miami.

Ooooh, recaps! Where? I would love to read someone else ripping on Dance Moms.

And I totally get not being able to deal with the shows because all the adults on them are hideous and those poor kids are all going to need years of therapy. I have no defense for my bizarre love for these shows other than morbid curiousity. And the fact that some of the kids are actually really, really talented. That little Maddie on Dance Moms is a superstar. She's ridiculous.

Here you go. [link]

Now you know my dirty secret, where I go for trash tv juiciness, without, you know, having to watch it.

I would have posted it quicker, but I got sucked in reading Sister Wives recaps.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I think I was under the influence of ... something. It occurred to me there could be a sort-of reality show - Real Housewives of Dune (may your manicure chip and shatter!).

I need to figure out what I was on and get more of it.
