That was surprisingly tense making- I would have been happy with any of them winning, except maybe Tony
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
Christina, is that you?
Do you like my formal hotpants?
One thing I am curious about is who really made the decisions on which of the other contestants came back to sing, either with the finalists or on their own. I noticed a distinct lack of Erin and Jesse, just to name two, and I wonder who decided that.
Didn't Erin sing with Juliet?
Also, is it wrong that my favorite performance of the season was that Jackson Five number? They were just so damn cheerful and fun.
Erin Willett did, unless you mean annoying Erin?
I loved "I Want You Back" but that song is pretty hard to resist.
Why did you not like Tony, Lee?
(...Christina)
Something about Tony started rubbing me the wrong way in the last few weeks. Like he has a smarmy side or something. I can't put my finger on it, but he seems like a giant asshole to me.
For me, Tony gave off huge asshole vibes from the jump and he did the whole "I was too real to sell out and cash in on my post MMC fame by doing disposable pop so I just soldiered on me and my guitar and my babies and my cred" thing and I hate that thing so, so much. It just rubbed me the wrong way. I bet Christina cries over her lack of cred every night before going to bed on her piles and piles of money. Whatever. I also just didn't find him to be very original or memorable. I can't even really remember what he sang this season other than the Brittany cover (which has been done to death and better by other artists and has also been done on other reality shows so his just came off as a complete copycat and it wasn't even his idea, it was Adam's) and the 99 Problems cover (which I learned was also not an original arrangement - he stole that one, too. Damn!) He has a fine voice, but he didn't seem like a star to me.
Still wish Juliet had won, but I'm happy for Jermaine and I hope this gives him the boost to make a go of it as a front man.
Erin Willett did, unless you mean annoying Erin
Yep, I meant the other Erin, not Willett.
Tony rubbed me the wrong way, for reasons I can't quite pinpoint. He just seemed like a bit of an ass, and the other people didn't.
Let me give you an example: all the other final 4 seemed quite generous in having 3 or so other people up there singing with them in their "final song." Tony only had one person? ONE?
What's that about?
