The time constraint was brutal, and I wanted to shake Not!Tim during her walkthrough when she was chiding the designers for not stepping far enough out of their comfort zones -- if you've only got 6 hours from first sketch to finished garment, you're gonna fall right back on your tried and true bag of tricks. (Kenley's dress, especially: so cute, and so utterly standard and unchallenging.)
I kind of really, really liked Michael's dress, though, especially in motion. Not the wretched color, but damn would I wear that in a heartbeat in a deep, deep blood-red, with a nice severe Louise Brooks haircut and some Deco jet jewelry. In some less old-lady-nightgown color, that dress could look deliciously, elegantly predatory.
Yeah, JZ, a big reason why I didn't like it was the color, so I think that they gave him a break for that since he was constrained by his ice cream choice.
I loved Mondo's dress, despite the fact that I hate
the color orange. I would say that I would wear it, but that lovely sexy open back is not an option for the double d
I felt bad for all the designers -- so many of them got stuck with nightgown/Easter egg/after dinner mint colors that were gonna look like ass no matter what they designed.
eta: The other thing about Mondo's dress was the neckline; I'm just barely small enough (hovering between C and D) that I can find some low-backed strapless bras that would let me get away with the back of his dress, but that boatneck does no favors for any woman chestier than Audrey Hepburn. It kills me to pass up those dresses when I'm out looking, but after decades of hoping and trying I know by now that it's pointless; that neck makes me look like a fire hydrant with a face.
OTOH, not everyone chose to be literal. God knows that the orange in Mondo's dress wasn't actually in the ice cream. Even Kara only used a little of the brown.
They also had a limited fabric selection that may have come into play.
Yeah, that's totally true. But I can see how a lot of people would just get mentally stuck, what with the short time and the actual fabric swatches.
Anyone who loved Season 2 of Top Model (Shandi! Yoanna! Camille!) it's on Oxygen right now...the Paris-phonecall-from-the-hottub part is coming up in about two hours.
Is anyone else watching the voice?
I love the first woman who sang, but I am surprised she didn't choose Adam.
