I think that if, for example, Tre's salmon dish hadn't been the worst tasting thing in the history of Top Chef (Bourdain mentions that Ted Allen physically recoiled from it) - CJ would have gone. . .but he's on my list. Howie first, then CJ. Then. . . hmmmm. . . we'll see how Casey, Hung and the Brians do.

Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I still think CJ should have been booted.
I wanted Brian booted. He didn't do anything. If he had made a dish (like say a cured salmon), Tre might have been saved.
To be perfectly honest, if that had been anybody but Tre, I would have been totally supportive of the boot. He was my baby, I wanted him to stay. I really thought that he could win it all. I hoped that his past strong work and his incredible potential would save him, but alas, no.
Somebody over at TWOP pointed out that Tre was doomed when Padma mentioned after he won the first ec that the first two seasons the winner of the first ec went on to win it all. And this will be the first time that the winner of the first ec doesn't go all the way.
oh, one thing that I forgot about Top Chef -- I really liked that they called Dale out of his tacky outfit. When you are the face of a restaurant, you do not dress like you're going to the mall. Even if you are trying to give the impression of a casual restaurant, there's casual, and casual. A button down and slacks is casual, but elegant. polo shirt and jeans is McDonalds, not even Applebees.
Shoot, even McDonald's has a uniform.
He also seemed to delight a bit too much to being a bitch behind scenes.
So sorry to see Tre go, but he knew he screwed up, both with his dishes and his team management. He can come make me cheesy grits anytime. And I have no idea if I like grits or not.
So there's a "No Reservations" marathon on Travel right now--hour after hour of Tony Bourdain. I swear, I love that man to ridiculousness. He's so acerbic and funny and crazy. Awesome.
BB - Y'all, Dick is just foul. He is a foul human being. I don't know how much more of him I can take. I was really hoping that Jen could provoke him into swinging on her so that he could get kicked out of the house. Does that make me foul? Just ewww.
This show is getting decidely less "lite summer fare" than I need for it to be.
Seriously. That was crazy. What the fuck is he still doing in the house? Was it just stupid America's Vote that got Dustin kicked off last time? Because WTF.
And did Amber just say she has an upbeat personality?
Edit, so as not to make a zillion posts: I'm kind of stunned with how lightly they are dealing with the whole Dick/Jen situation.

This. Exactly. He was verbally abusive to her tonight and not for the first time. And even if he didn't actually hit her, I got Jen's back on the fact that he was trying to burn her with his cigarette. The behavior is so decidedly NOT OK, and that's even without seeing the truly vile stuff that is apparently going on in the live feeds. Why don't they get rid of him?
