PR: I actually like the challenge in theory, but none of the designs that came out of it were really great. Or full on train wrecks, which I would have enjoyed. And team challenges always make for too much interpersonal drama onscreen for my taste. In summary, meh.
SYTCD: So happy for Melanie, but a little sad for Sasha. They were both so amazing and danced best together, it's just a shame one had to beat the other.

This. I always enjoy PR more when they can each do their own thing.
PR: Yes, I thought that the weirdness of the stilts overshadowed the designs. When I was watching the runway all I kept noticing was the oddity of the way the models had to move.
I was also happy that they saw through Victor. Watching Victor and Bert was painful.
So was watching Fallene's meltdown.
You're right, the stiltwalking motion was really distracting on the runway.
Poor Fallene, losing all her confidence like that. Bryce really came off like an ass.
Yes, he did, but I could see his frustration. They had a discussion about how to cut it with the grain, and she didn't. He was right to be upset, but he did not deal with it well, and his shitting on her to the other designers was not cool.
but, frankly, I think that the new format is too much designer drama, not enough design. I watch on tivo delay so that I can fast forward through the crap.
victor was full of crap, and he started the shit by not being a professional when he and Bert were first partnered. Saying "my heart dropped" in public was childish and tacky. In the little designer interviews, maybe, but not while sitting with the rest of the designers. That said, Bert is annoyingly pedantic and resistant to change. i think that "taste level" will come into play because he has been out of the industry for a while.
And Fallene is not cut out for this competition, I think (no pun intended). I felt like yelling before the runway show, "Tim Gunn is not your dad! Get it together!"
I'm finally watching the SYTYCD finale, and I said "holy shit" out loud AGAIN at the leap in the Melanie/Neil dance.
Also, this is really dumb, but I love that Melanie doesn't have a good figure. Obviously her body can do ANYTHING, but if you saw her at the beach, you'd be like, "eh." IMO. It's always an interesting lesson for me to look at the variety in the dancers' bodies, given the crazy shit they can all do.
You know where that was so noticeable? After the housewives dance, with her and Sasha standing there with Cat after. Sam exact dress, different colors, but the bodice fit them completely differently. And yet I bet they're not too different in size, either. Sasha is simply longer-boned, I think, which makes her look leaner. Melanie's thighs are more developed, though, as well as a little shorter.
The Melanie leap made me gasp out loud the first time I saw it. So gorgeous and fearless. It looked like she was really soaring.
Yeah, Melanie has those big ("big") thighs, and kind of a doughy-looking middle.
