OK, I admit I've never heard this song before, but "your sex is on fire"? Sounds like something out of the Smart Bitches reviewing a romance novel and saying "THE STD BURRRRNS". But I do like Nakia, if for no other reason than that we rarely get to see a big gay bear on TV!
(WTF is CeeLo wearing? That JACKET!)
Is it me, or was Jeff Jenkins really disappointing?
I’m not a huge fan of this chicken little kid. He sounds very good here, but he just doesn’t do it for me. He’s like a little Adam clone, though, so I can see why he likes him. Still, he’s in tune, so he’s automatically ahead of the sisters. He’s just a boring performer. Despite what Adam told him, standing in the middle of the stage and rocking back and forth with the mic stand does not equal performing. And ooh, that last big note before sliding into the ending was bad. I might even dare say it was pitchy.
Nikia – Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon. I do not get Cee-Lo’s song choices. At all. Vicci is the only one who has been served well thus far and she bucked him and sang a song she wanted to sing. He sounds fine, but the song doesn’t suit him. And the two fire twirlers in the back both seemed either bored or stoned or both. But this kid has a great voice, man. He’s the real deal.
Jeff singing Jesus Take the Wheel? Damn, I love this song. Don’t fuck it up, kid. And he starts out flat. Well, that’s a shame. This song is really, really hard. People do not give La Underwood the credit she deserves. Oh, my. This is bad. Really, really bad. So under the pitch. It’s just . . . not good. Oh, he is murdering the big, glory note and he has no breath control so he couldn’t hold it. Which is better I guess since he was so far off the note. Look at his face. Aww, poor baby. He knows he was flat as a pancake through the whole thing. Why are the judges even on this show when they just lie so blatantly to these kids? Can they even hear? Maybe during the performances, they are secretly replaced by stunt doubles and head up to the V Lounge so Blake can get his sip on, Adam and Christina can finally just do it already and get it over and Cee-Lo can toke it up? So they don't really hear the performances and then they just come back and say something vaguely encouraging? That's gotta be it.
I was really disappointed by Jeff--he sounded good in clips and in his audition and competition, but...that song just sucked.
Is the fact that Adam's people have to sing with a whole choir mean he doesn't trust them to sound good on their own? :) (They're actually doing fine, I think) (OK, I wrote that before Adam bent in half and went 'yeahhhhhh" as if he were constipated) That boy with the faux hawk on Adam's team is awfully adorable, even if he was kinda dreadful in his solo
kat, I thought the earlier "I really liked the ...decor! the candles!" was an interesting non-compliment.
Well done, choir. That was a great performance. Adam's team was there, too. Shame you couldn't really hear them at all.
meara, that was such total Christina hateration. It was delicious. She really can't stand it that Vicci can just flat out blow. She has thrown shade all over all the girls tonight except the crappy sisters. It's like she can't stand any competition for her girls.
Wow, country boy is managing to make this song completely forgettable and sound JUST LIKE every other country song ever in history. And I like country music. Jesus.
I didn't love Emily Valentine but right now I'm really sorry she's gone.
Addicted to Love from the country kid? So Cee-Lo plans to just keep making bad choices for his team members. Well, this is the weird choice that has worked the best so far, but I can’t say it totally works. He sounds good, at least. Very country. I don’t know. I suppose it was fine. Not my cup of tea. And Adam, it wasn’t like a country version of the Robert Plant song. It was a country version of that Robert Plant song. Idiot. Is Christina Aguilera drunk? Or brain damaged in some way?
Javier singing Angel? I think I will like that. It’s so strangely chopped up. Not that I’m not enjoying it, but it is oddly truncated. And I totally get what Adam is saying about not throwing every vocal trick in the book into things just because you can. I would’ve liked to have heard at least a few more notes just sung straight and held prettily. And dammit, I hate agreeing with Adam. But overall, Javier was amazing. And I guess like my daddy often says, if you’ve got a big gun, you might as well shoot it.
