SYTYCD is conflicting with a Charlie Brown Christmas tonight! We seem to have reached agreement that I will watch SYTYCD and we will Tivo Charlie Brown, since we will probably want to keep that one for multiple watchings.

I thought Sing Off was just okay last night. I'm not sure what I was expecting. The two groups who were sent home I suppose deserved to.

I'm trying to figure out how they're going to do SYTYCD in one hour tonight--will they have the usual one solo each, one group dance, one dance with each gender, and one dance with each person pairing up with the other finalists? That would be 18 dances, which cannot fit into a one-hour slot. Maybe they only have them partnering with one person?

They don't usually do a group dance on the competition show, and they haven't done any one-gender only dances this year (I don't think?). They have to do solos, so that's six, but short. If each once dances with all the opposite sex, that's nine couple dances, which is a lot for an hour. So I'm guessing (unspoiled) that they do 6 couple dances, switching partners - and sticking to new couples, as everyone there has danced with at least one of the partners so far. Which implies Ryan and Ashleigh together.

Tomorrow is a two-hour finale, so they can do a group dance and other combinations then, plenty of time.

I was unimpressed. And the bio reels, my god, the bio reels!

SYTYCD formatting note for tonight: Each girl will dance with each boy once, so we will get 9 partner dances plus each one will do a solo. I don't know how they are going to get it all in. I assume no rehearsal clips and minimal judgery which is fine with me.

I watched The Sing Off last night and enjoyed it in a cheesy way. Nick Lachey needed to go up about three sizes on his suit, Nicole Scherzinger was either drugged out of her mind or is one of the stupidest people on the planet. (The Beetlebubs? Really, Nicole?) Ben Folds is adorable. I don't understand why the Mormon group is still there. Out of all the Boyz II Men you could have on the show, why go with the skinny, big eared one? Passably fun, but I won't be watching tonight because it's SYTYCD finale. Whoop whoop!

Thrive to spite them

SYTYCD-- I hope this is the last time they do the fall, there were too many interruptions with baseball and stuff. I don't like the format for the end either.

Also I was watching Fox Reality Channel's SYTYCD multiple day marathon, I'd forgotten Ashleigh was the one who was cut and then got in after Paula backed out. I wish they'd picked someone else or Paula hadn't backed out.

I watched that marathon, too. The loss of Paula was a tragedy. She's fierce. I was amazed how many routines I really quite liked. I was also amazed by how much FP really did grow on me. Around about her Mandy Moore Relax routine with Jakob, she started consistently putting in solid performances. I still wish that she hadn't been on the show and I definitely still think it's bunk that she made the finale, but she was not nearly as bad as I thought she'd be.

And I should clarify that I am only OK with the minimal judgery for tonight's finale because the permanent three judge panel with no guest judges has worked about as well as Judge #4 on AI. The rest of the finale is whack. The same sex numbers (especially the boys numbers) have consistently been some of the high points on the finale. Two Princes. Message in a Bottle. The geek hop with Travis and Benji. Bah. I do not like it.

I like the Jeanine and Kayla number, with them striving to get across the stage and divesting themselves of layers of skirts.
