In random reality TV news, I offhandedly mentioned Big Brother at work yesterday, and my boss had never heard of it. I don't care if you don't watch it, but it's been on three nights a week for eight summers!
Non-Fiction TV: I Reject Your Reality and Substitute My Own
This thread is for non-fiction TV, including but not limited to reality television (So You Think You Can Dance, Top Chef: Masters, Project Runway), documentaries (The History Channel, The Discovery Channel), and sundry (Expedition Africa, Mythbusters), et al. [NAFDA]
I don't have a horse in the HK race either. Now, I'll just watch to see if the spoilery thing I read was real or a foiler.
I think it'll be Jen. Bonnie's just too eratic. Rock has the misfortune of being the last man standing on a decidedly underwhelming men's team, and I think that'll count against him as much as his temper does. For all his talk, he's been solid but not stellar - same as Jen.
SYTYCD: I think part of the reason that people aren't standing out is just that there were too many people to keep track of. Until about the top fourteen, I was identifying people by their hair and attitudes, not their name. Now that we're at the top ten, and stuff is going to get a little more challenging, I think people might stand out more. I do like that there doesn't seem to be any particular rivalry between the dancers--everyone seems to get along well enough.
I only notice Lauren because I hate her now.
Agreed. Or at least strongly dislike. I think she's probably too young for this, really.
It was the pretending to be Asian that pissed me off.
It was the pretending to be Asian that pissed me off.
That was ridiculous. I really wonder why they chose to show that.
It was the pretending to be Asian that pissed me off.
No shit. I am so done with her.
HK: I am rooting for Rock (by default) because I hate Bonnie, and Jen is garbage woman.
So, I spent my lunch hour looking at SYTYCD Season 2 recaps. Here's when the dances that I remember best were:
Top 20: Benji and Donyelle's "Too Much Booty" hip-hop
Top 16: Allison and Ivan's Argentine tango
Top 14: Ashlee and Dmitry's "Dance Dance" contemporary (Copelia revisited) and Natalie and Musa's disco
Top 12: Allison and Ivan's "Why" contemporary and Donyelle and Benji's "You Can't Stop the Beat" Broadway
Top 10: Travis and Heidi's "Calling You" contemporary and Wade Robson's "Ramalama" group routine (aka Zombies!). Both of these routines were nominated for Emmys.
Top 8: Heidi and Benji's "Black Mambo" and Allison and Ivan's "Sexy Love"
I now remember why Season 2 made me like contemporary.
FYI, almost all these are available on YouTube if you search using the dancers' names.
