I think the dances this week were not as good as previous dances this season. I never saw last season, but Nigel and Mary have both been saying they felt they had better dancers overall this season than last. So, maybe six of one, half dozen of the other?

Oh yeah, I meant the dances/choreography/music, not necessarily the dancers...

Did they have the same choreographers? There's a few I like and a few I don't particularly care for. I like most of Wade's stuff, some of Mia's, very little of Shane's.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, I'm watching the Food Network EXTREME CAKE CHALLENGE!!! and it's the funniest thing I've ever seen. Duff Goldman is the head judge, Geof and Mary Alice are the other judges, and the competing chefs are doing the craziest shit I've ever seen. The display portion of each cake included Duff standing by with a fire extinguisher.

"What kind of magical sunshine and lollipop world do you live in? Because you need to be medicated."-SFist

Loving SYTYCD, but wondering--last year there were so many dances that I just LOVED, that really stuck in my brain (and that I downloaded the music for!). Is it just that we haven't hit the top ten yet, and those dances are yet to come? Or was I just overly wowed last year since it was the first time I saw the show? Or are the dances less exciting so far this year?

It's not your imagination. The only dance that has been memorable to me is Hok and Jamie's hummingbird/flower dance. And (I think) the dances I remember from previous seasons were mostly before the Top Ten: Allison and Ivan's tango, the Fall Out Boy marionette number, much of Benji and Donyelle's stuff, etc.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

This season, I thought Kameron/Lacey's first dance (Mia) was very good. I also liked Danny & Anya's Tyce (I think?) dance. Wade's hummingbird/flower dance was aces.

The California swing (Sara/Pasha) was pretty good, but didn't feel *tight* in some places.

But, I agree, I really thought last year had more memorable dances.
