I have what I assumed to be a bug bite on my leg - it has doubled in size since Saturday. It's yucky and hurty and itchy so I went to the dr. today. They said Lyme as soon as they saw it, but drew blood anyway and will just treat symptoms until they get results.
It might not be, could be a spider bite or an allergic reaction (although I have never had one before) or some odd virus the Dr. doesn't suspect.

Yikes. Remind me never to go outside again, OK?
Who are those women that are making up for me?
I buy an unreasonable number of purses, given how many I carry (one at a time, maybe two different ones a year), but I definitely don't buy four a year! I actually had to pull myself back from buying novely purses yet again this weekend. (These were laminated newspaper.) They just seem like such a fun thing to buy! Not a huge statement to carry, not a huge financial commitment, etc. And yet, I buy them and they sit in the closet.
Of course, I should disclaim by saying I had my brows done last week, and like every time I wonder why I don't keep them shaped because I love how it makes me look like I give a fuck. Then I remembered I don't give a fuck, and it's rude to lie.
I need mine done. And I am so much happier when they are, but, yeah, I end up not giving enough of a fuck to do it.
Which is wrong. Especially because it's summer... Summer means that so long as you get your brows done, sunglasses and some lipstick mean you are totally done with your make up.
I should really get my brows done.
And be glad I am below average on the purse thing.
I guess I buy about four bags a year. I need casual summer bag, a formal summer bag, a casual winter bag and a formal winter bag. YES I SAID THAT. In addition to my work bag. Which I replace every six months or so. Bags are a big thing here. It's like the car you drive.
One of my favorite purses is a novelty and was a gift. It's a pair of 501 Levis. All the pockets and belt loops are there and it is hella convenient.
And then a Japanese print one. That was gifted from a friend when she realized her new baby would destroy it faster than even I would.
Oddly, I think of myself as quite the simple black leather and nothing fancy kind of girl. Because when, every few years, I have to buy a new purse because mine has lived its useful life, that's what I buy.
Bags are a big thing here.
I can clearly never leave this coast.
Yeesh. There are better times to discover your car battery is not taking or keeping its charge than on a dim rainy afternoon. I drove through Waltham turning off the car radio, then the running lights, then the wipers, and the car finally crapped out on me about 200 yards from my destination. I didn't even know a car could crap out on battery alone!
I let it take a 30 minute nap, and it started again; but it ran down its charge again within 10 minutes. Grrr.
I am so sad. A car problem I cannot fix myself! (I thought it was the leads being connected badly; but we've tightened them now. So it's got to be the rust on the leads impeding the charge on its way from here to there. Batteries do not die like that 6 months after you bought them!) So, I think I will be at the mechanic's tomorrow. Feh.
I resisted buying a felted wool purse/tote last weekend. It was in the clearance section of a fancy store. there was no price on the purse, but my friend bought one that was marked down form $90 to $10. And now I regret it.
You know, I do have moments of seeing a woman with just the right purse and I think "Why don't I do that?" But even if I had the right purse, I don't know if I could be arsed to actually change them.
But Kat has some marvellous purses. I may also lack sufficient whimsy. My bags need to be practical first, if I'm to carry them two days in a row.
Which reminds of the time I was shoe-shopping with a friend and she tried on a pair of blue peep toe heels with white polka dots, and I told her the shoes were cuter than she was, and you should never do that. I didn't mean pretty-cute, I meant whimsy-cute. And I stand by that.
When my brows are done I like to dab light eyeshadow right on the bone where they cleaned up and I swear it makes me look grown up and stuff.
Speaking of which, I might be old, but not in any useful way. For some reason I've told the 17 year old instructor to wear her tiny pink krav shorts (pretty much this style) to class on Monday and I would too.
Tried them on, and didn't like how my legs looked. I never used to even care.
Yikes on the Lyme disease msbelle. You ticks better leave her alone!!!!
I buy probably one bag a year and that feels ridiculous to me.
Who are those women that are making up for me?
raises hand
But I buy most of them for cheap from thrift stores or eBay. And then epoxy sparkly bats or skull cameos to them.
