Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Extremely Rare And Beautiful Pink Dolphin Spotted

This extremely rare and beautiful "pink dolphin" was spotted and photographed by Capt. Erik Rue of Calcasieu Charter Service on June 24th, 2007 during a charter fishing trip on Calcasieu Lake south of Lake Charles, LA.

It appears to be an uncanny freak of nature, an albino dolphin, with reddish eyes and glossy pink skin. It is small in comparison to the others it is traveling with and appears to be a youngster traveling with mama. After spotting the beautiful mammal cruising with a pod of four other dolphins, Rue and his guests Randy and Peyton Smith and Greg and Sam Elias of Monroe, LA idled nearby while watching and photographing the unusual sight for more than an hour.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

So, my parents just got back from their local independent bookstore, and The Book was sold out! (Theo, was that all you?) They re-ordered.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Jesus.

ULY 17--NFL star Michael Vick was indicted today on a federal conspiracy charge for his alleged role in a dog fighting venture that operated from a Virginia property owned by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback. [Whitefonting further detail]:
The 27-year-old Vick, whose nickname is listed as "Ookie" in the indictment, allegedly established the Bad Newz Kennels in early-2001 in Smithfield, Virginia. It was this property, for which Vick paid $34,000, that the star athlete and his codefendants used as the "main staging area for housing and training the pit bulls involved in the dog fighting venture and hosting dog fights." According to prosecutors, Vick and his cohorts began purchasing pit bull puppies in late-2001 and would eventually "sponsor" individual dog fights with purses as high as $26,000. In the indictment's most harrowing parts, federal investigators describe what happened to some Bad Newz Kennels dogs that either lost matches or did not perform well in test fights. After a March 2003 loss by a female pit bull, codefendant Purnell Peace, "after consulting with Vick," electrocuted the animal. In April, prosecutors allege, Vick, Peace, and Quanis Phillips, "executed approximately 8 dogs that did not perform well in 'testing' sessions." These animals, the indictment claims, were killed "by various methods, including hanging, drowning, and slamming at least one dog's body to the ground." (18 pages)

Smoking Gun has the indictment. [link]

I hope that fucker goes away for a long time.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Thrive to spite them

I've been following this and it didn't like officials were going to get enough of Vick, personally, to indict him. Vick's claim has been that he let a cousin live on the property and that this cousin was doing all the dog fighting.

There was an admission that he maybe went to some dog fights, but he never was in the business.

I thought it was gonna be that thing where they shoot a...um...I don't know. Current or something. Anyway, through lucite and it makes these cool feathery (thinner than a hair) treelike tunnels. A guy at work makes those for fun. But anyway, that's cool too.

Man, I leave town in a little over 2 weeks and...well, it isn't looking good at work. I keep telling people what they need to do to self train (get familiar with the site? Short of sitting next to you while you do it....) and yeah. Not going so well. It is making me realize I do pick up stuff faster than most (one iteration will do ina pinch) and am much more self directed than many. I taught *myself* this job.

Also? While I can write a good instructional doc, I probably have no business teaching professionally.

Man, I wish nannying was lucrative.

Now tagless for your comfort.

I gotta break with AT&T, stat. I fled to Cingular to avoid them, and look how that turned out...

Maybe I'm just imagining this but since AT&T bought them out, I've had more dropped calls. It's still the best reception I can get for the places I'm at so I'm going to stick with them (at least for the next two years).

If the dropped call thing keeps happening, though, I'm going to have to get a land line phone again.

I have a Windows CE allergy, and I don't use Outlook, so I'm hoping I can make a Nokia/Symbian solution work.

I'm trying to get more organized by updating my outlook contacts. I don't typically use Outlook for email but if I can manage to synch everything up, I'll go back to using it on a daily basis. I don't use the internet on the phone yet--just AT&T's Media Net, which gives basic information. But I'll probably get internet on it when I'm travelling.
