Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

But the west coast is trying to poach Beverly, so I didn't count her in NC.

What?

If I say it, it might be true!

Winnetka is Valley just before the big hill thing, yeah? No, that's ... I fail. Someone else will have to take a stab at this one. I am busy trying to get Beverly into the PNW.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm looking at the Winnetka, CA wikipedia page, and I can't work out why I've never heard of it before.

Winnetka is bordered by Canoga Park on the west, Woodland Hills on the south, Chatsworth to the north, and Reseda to the east.

I've been to all those places. Just never Winnetka.

No point me answering valley-related questions. I'm unbearably biased against anywhere not West LA, much less not LA county.

I think my sister would love it if they could get back to the PNW--until about 18 months ago, they were both living in Tacoma, and she moved out to Las Vegas to join the fiance last September. But, he just got a job with the city (of LA), so they'll be moving at the end of the month. I didn't get a chance to ask her where he'll be working before she hung up--I'll see if I can get that info from her tomorrow. It sounded like they're pretty set to looking in that area of the Valley, so I'm guessing he'll be working nearby.

You've probably gone through it a lot. There are a few exits for it off of the 101.

I only remember the name because my mom grew up in Winnetka near Chicago. It stuck in my brain.

That's why my sister also noticed it on the map! Well, she recognized the name of the town from Illinois, not that we grew up there.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

I can't work out why I haven't heard of it either. I grew up here. But my DH knows the name, so clearly he's more plugged in than I am.

Raq's technically DC. Northern of DC, of course.

I think that Raq's in Fairfax, which is Virginia, south of DC. Fred Pete is also in Northern VA. I am as well, but not for long. Soon, I am in DC (basically 20 minutes north in good traffic). MFNLaw is in Frederick, MD, and of course meara and beej are in DC. I'm probably forgetting someone(s), since it's 3AM

brillig

so I have a functioning computer here at home again (power surges, fried power supplies, sturm und drang etc.). A dear friend handed down a computer that's far too wimpy for his needs--bless the power-gamers, for they shall get tired of merely speedy computers--and we put in my hard drives.

But, oh, god, the angst. I start working on it, and Hubby gets this sour look on his face that says, "No, no, you work on it, you're just going to fuck it up, but I'll be a good Hubby and keep my mouth shut." I've spent several of the last years doing computer tech support for a living, but Hubby always acts like I don't know a computer mouse from Mickey Mouse. I wonder if it's some weird macho thing of "my woman can't know more about a technical subject than I do."

But it works, and the video card is better, and I'm happy.
