Wow, my mom just called to tell me that my future BIL got the job he was interviewing for with the city of Los Angeles, so he and Sis are moving out there next month!
So much for us spending time with them in Vegas the week before their wedding in October--Mom's going to spend tomorrow trying to move our flights from the Saturday before to Wednesday, since we won't be able to stay at their house in Vegas now.
Looks like I might be heading to LA to visit her in the future, and can meet with some LA-istas as well!!

Short version, brenda -- latest blood work not good, and even the upbeat vet isn't upbeat any more.
And I've made two visits to the only local pet cemetery and found nobody there both times. And they haven't responded to voice mail.
