No. You're missing the point. The design of the thing is functional. The plan is not to shoot you. The plan is to get the girl. If there's no girl, then the plan, well, is like the room.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I ordered the testing kit, too! I'm especially interested to see if there's any identifiable Amerind genes floating around in the family tree via my maternal grandfather's family.

In a weird way, it's a gift I can share with my whole family!

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

What does it say about me that I'm more interested in doing the dog version they came out with recently? Not that this wouldn't be interesting too.

Most of the things on the supertaster list are nos for me (except spinach), but I tested as a normal taster on the BBC test. (Okay, I had one really delicious kale dish once, but I failed miserably when I tried to reporduce it.) I think I am just fussy.

I know she doesn't post here anymore, but Lyra Jane's husband posted in her LJ that Lyra Jane gave birth to a baby girl named Ivy Johanna at 1:45 AM this morning.

Hee. That's like what would happen if you crossed my dog with a bear.

Ann, that's a ferret.

We got good news and bad news last night.

The good news -- Hubs got a job offer that involves a promotion. It's still tentative, but he may be starting in 2-3 weeks.

The bad news is about Teddy. We got the results of his latest bloodwork last night. It doesn't look good. His calcium is down, but his creatine is up. This means his kidneys are getting worse, but calcification isn't the problem. The obvious candidate is now some form of cancer.

Unfortunately, he'd have to undergo biopsies before any serious cancer treatment. Which would require general anesthesia, which his kidneys likely wouldn't be able to stand.

According to the vet, his prognosis is guarded. Which is medical-ese for, keep him comfortable and don't make long-term plans for him. In the short term, we're moving the fluids from every 3rd day to every other day and increasing the appetite stimulant to twice a day.

I am a food and beverage whore, with minor exceptions for mushrooms and certain types of seafood. I pity you supertasters as I drink my coffee and consider where I might get cabbage for lunch.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

What's the difference, really, between a supertaster and someone who is just a picky eater?

Poor Teddy. I'm sorry about the bad news.

Back at work today so Tuesday feels like a monday = crappy. But it's a shorter day which means slightly more happy than usual.
