Can't drink, smoke, diddle my willy. Doesn't leave much to do other than watch you blokes stumble around playing Agatha Christie.

Swouncing

you didn't lose anything.

I lost just a little. It could have been so much worse, I'm not even thinking about whining.

I may have more perspective to the whole computer thing, considering how in the last couple of weeks (1) my sister announced that she and her boyfriend are getting married (in two months!) (2) my best friend (and her two sons, who are the closest thing I have to nephews) are leaving next week for the USA for around two years (3) a dear friend became a father (4) and scheduled the "brit" to his son in the one time I couldn't possibly be there

[Edit: I should add (5) I seemed to lose the ability to spell]

my band may be playing in Las Vegas in August at this great big rollerderby convention thing

Awesome! When will you know for sure?

Jon! I'm so glad I get to early-congratulate you in your screen! I'm so very pleased I got to meet FAQwife (when she was "only" FAQGirl, but still).

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

The guy who's going to be replacing me while I'm on leave is at my desk today. I'm at a different desk, much more centrally located. It's giving me a whole new perspective on the whole open-plan thing...back in my ops corner, things were so different! My monitor didn't face anyone but me! I feel so exposed!

Also, this station's mouse has a track ball. Whyfore no optical mouse for Jess?

Evolution does not happen randomly or accidentally. Natural selection is based on consequences. For an individual organism, aspects of selection may seem random, but in the aggregate the process is highly predictable. Natural selection is not accidental. Natural selection is an inexorable processor of information about the natural world, transcribing data about the world into the information storage devices that we call species. Man was not an accident. But that is the central message of evolution, not a reason to reject evolution.

SO VERY MUCH THIS.

I CAN HAZ INTERNETS??

Someday, I'll have to analyze why I find lolspeak so appealing. It's exactly the sort of thing that should annoy the crap out of me, but I can't help but love it! Maybe because it was introduced to the world via kittens.

In Bee news, the girl from the Bahamas is out, but the one from Jamaica has survived round 5.

Huh. Do they accept British spelling for words?

sarameg, our weather reportage here will have to change! I'll be all "this is coming up from the harbor towards you"

Heh. You'll get to see the water everyday! (well, if you want to, I guess.)

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

WE ROCK.

And now I have to go off to the great migraine guru whose appointments are scheduled 3 months out into the future.

I hope the guru has some answers, ita.

Huh. Do they accept British spelling for words?

I wondered that. The last east coaster went down in round five. I hope Anqi Dong makes the final rounds!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Good luck, ita.

I may have more perspective to the whole computer thing, considering how in the last couple of weeks (1) my sister announced that she and her boyfriend are getting married (in two months!) Yikes! Talk about good news, bad news.
