Congrats on the new bike juliana!
Now that PC has gotten advice I need some.
I don't like my job, it's not horrible, but I'm ill suited for it. I'm fine with the answering phones and talking to people, but I suck at the paper wrangling I have to do. A big part of my job is organizing and maintaining files and binders, creating and updating spreadsheets, making copies, etc. I try to think Files and Records, Files and Records, Files and Records but that doesn't work so well. The other thign is I'm tied to my desk, which is not my strong suit either. And because of that and a few other things I'm starting to really not care about my job and it's showing.
The other thing is I'm starting to go back to school part time and looking at the fall schedule I can see that a lot of classes aren't offered in the evenings and I'll need to be available at some point between 8-5. Because reception is such a huge part of my job I can't leave, take a class, and then make up the time later.
So I want and need to make a change and I'm thinking that maybe retail as an assistant manager might be something I should try for. I have retail experience and experience as an assistant Manager (although for smaller stores) and retail is something I enjoyed. But I'm not sure what the pay is like and if I could afford to do that. I'm not sure how to find out what stores pay for assistant managers, but I've seen some positions advertised at Petco and Borders, which is what got me thinking about this.
I want to leave this job within 6 or 7 months and I was going to focus on an office job but I'm thinking retail would be a better fit. I want advice because of my track record to jump into a new thing without thinking about all the angles and I really don't want to do that.
