I may be asking for jobma soon, I just found out that my counterpart in another division is moving to a vacant job in another division and I'll be able to apply for her job -- which is full time w/benefits (very nice benefits, I could stay on the same hmo, I'd be able to earn vacation and sick time, plus 10 paid holidays, stuff like that) and I'd be staying here and I do love working here.
On the other hand, there are two other people who are temps and qualify for that job so I have to beat out them AND any outside applicants. My supervisor's going to help me with the selling points, but I'm worried that I have a rep for being a bit scatterbrained and that could work against me, I'm not sure. As soon as the job is officially posted I'll go and express interest in it.
Lots of jobma/interviewma to MM!
Lots of ma was sent to MM. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
Much ~jobma for MM.
I've been reading, but haven't had much time for posting. I did want to say, Suzi, that I'm glad your mom is doing better. She's one cool lady.
Also, to sympathize with Laga. I have quit holding my tounge about L's husband, but that's only because she's for really-o and truly-o getting out (got the papers yesterday, was going to deliver them tomorrow, but may do it today after a particularly tantrumy email this morning). But I remember the days of choosing my words very carefully and ranting to...well, you guys.
Edited so Suzi would know I was talking to her.
Thanks Daisy Jane.
Last night was quite the adventure, getting her out of the hospital. You would think we were trying to escape from jail - geeesh.
I must have slept funny, my back is tweaked and it is annoying.
MM~ma!!!!
Burrell, so what brings you to Seattle? How long are you here and do you have time to meet Buffistas?
laga, I've been thinking about you and your mom in this situation. I think it is possible for you mom to say "look, x is rude to me and it is something I wouldn't take from my own child. " then maybe set conditions ( large family parties , public places only.) and even if she can't set conditions - it might give her reasons for leaving early or not attending something. and rude is a good word. - someone can decide you are just oversensitive - or they can pay attention.
anyway - good luck.
Job ~ma for everyone who needs it. I am happy to report that after 6+ months of unemployment, my DH has been offered a job in the subject matter he was hoping for -- phew! I think I deserve honorable mention in the Wife category.
We are off this afternoon to Richmond, VA, where my parents, both sisters and their families will gather for the annual week of visiting and annual prayers my sisters don't kill each other. My job is to spoil their children.
All that said, if there is a Buffista in the East Bay area who would like to do me a favor, a friend just had a baby and I would like to get her a gift certificate to a restaurant near their place in El Cerrito. If anyone is willing ping me at my profile addy, please?
