Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I got asked when I am "due" at the grocery store
Why anyone would EVER ask that is beyond me. My neighbor is clearly pregnant and I haven't asked her about it because what if she's just gotten chubby? or has some other issue? If she mentions being pregnant to me I'd certainly ask when she's due though.
I think that, if you don't know whether the woman is pregnant, YOU DON'T ASK. How do you know? Either (1) she tells you first, or (2) she is delivering the baby directly in front of you.
And, really, if it's #2, I think you know when she's due.
Maybe you could just get a quick bang trim somewhere, lisah? That might help.
She had a major freak out once when I jokingly suggested I was going to trim my own bangs! She so needs to be on Shear Genius next season. She'd be an audience fave!
My clothes are mysteriously unscathed. I guess the lipstick sublimated?
Yay for this at least. Last time I did this I kept expecting CSI's to show up - my clothes looked like they were covered in bloodspatter.

Uck. Some people are so stupid and/or mean, it boggles the mind. vw, I hope the new clothes are flattering and make you happy. But I also hope that you aren't letting stupid and/or mean people in your head.
t /dealing with my own issues of too much tum, hoping I'm not sounding preachy when encourage-y/validate-y was what I was going for.

Preach it, Sistah!
That is correct. The speedy retreat spleenwards is the reflex.
Oh, dear. That couldn't have felt good.
Go, lisah, with your letter! Go, letter, get to lisah! (Umm. now, please?)

That is so so so wrong.
I just woke up from a 3 hour nap. A 3 hour nap.... I feel a bit better. Now I have homework to do for class tonight.
On me, the visible difference between pregnant and fat didn't become apparent until about month 7/7.5. (Or at least, that's when people started offering me seats on the subway*, and co-workers stopped saying "Wow, you don't even LOOK pregnant!")
(*Which, honestly, I really appreciate, but would have appreciated even more during my completely non-showing first trimester when not getting a seat meant spending a good part of my commute crouched on the floor trying not to vomit.)
t /pregnancy likes carrots
To totally change the subject, on top of getting my grade today, I also got the comments on my final paper. This professor really takes A LOT of time to give feedback, so I won't bore you with the two pages he wrote :). But, I did want to share the final paragraph. Amazing how much he learned about me in just one semester...
Well, Valerie, I began by saying that I think you learned a lot from this effort. I have liked the way your ambitions and large-mindedness take you over, and tempt you to impossible projects. The result isn’t often going to be a big success, of course, but you are young, a learner, and you will be glad you took such big chances someday, because you are thereby learning twice as fast as your more cautious and careful contemporaries. More power to you!
I suspect this is why I got the grade I did, because he was actually fairly critical of the paper. I have to convince myself to just let it go and not spend more time on a project that I'm not really all that interested in continuing spending time on. It's just, he gave me some good things to consider, and it really could be better. But, sometimes things just need to be good enough. Time to let it go.
vw, I know the pain of not wanting to spend money on clothes while you're trying to change body shape. 2 suggestions - things that are easily alterable, and H&M. H&M has tons of basic shirts for less than $10 a pop, they're super-cute, and they have a bit of stretch to them, which means you can buy a size lower if you want.
Does H&M carry above size 16, though? I thought they didn't.

Inquiring minds want to know. I need something cheap/cool for next week.
