Jayne: Yeah, that was some pretty risky sittin' you did there. Wash: That's right, of course, 'cause they wouldn't arrest me if we got boarded, I'm just the pilot. I can always say I was flying the ship by accident.

Oh, Suzi and mom. I'm so sorry it didn't work out. How disappointing for you all. But, this means she's number 1 on the list now, right?

Cashmere, that sounds really frustrating! What was with the rain yesterday? We sat in it for five hours to see the Boston fireworks last night (which were AMAZING). I swear I'm still wet.

Morning all! Sneaking a few minutes online with my coffee before we girls head out for pedicures and baby room fabric shopping. The shower was so lovely, and they were SO surprised. They cried several times during the whole thing, and it was really sweet.

Suzi, sorry your mom didn't get a transplant. I hope she gets one soon, though.

Thanks, vw! We still managed to have a pretty fun time. Olivia showed her patriotic spirit.

Aw, Suzi, I'm sorry the transplant people got your hopes up and that it didn't work out for your Mom. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it happens for her soon.

Buffista kiddos are cute!

We finally took care of all the boxes that were piled up in our bedroom. We'd gotten used to ignoring them and pretending they didn't bother us, but now the bedroom seems so much bigger I'm happy we tore apart the storage space and packed them away.

Also? Bottle rockets and firecrackers, etc., were going off in our neighborhood until 1 a.m. last night so it's a very Zzzzzzz morning.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Sorry, Suzi! But that means she's at the top of the list now, right?

Gee. I forgot to pay my rent. Guess I better do that.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Transplant~ma for Suzi's mother.

We had some of Hubs's family over for a cookout and fireworks.

Our neighborhood is big on fireworks. I'd thought we spent too much until I heard that one of the neighbors spent $2700 -- we were just a drop in the bucket compared to that.

Worst moment -- Not sure, but it would have to involve the 9-year-old nephew who's such a terror even Max barely tolerates him. Possibly when nephew, who after being repeatedly told (by his parents and others) that he wasn't allowed to light any of the fireworks, reached into my pants pocket to grab a lighter.

The food was great. Even if we do need a new barbecue grill.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

$2,700 on fireworks?!? Oh, my.

Thanks for the brackets. Mom seemed ok last night after the call saying "not this time". I know she is disappointed. We were joking last night that transplants and baseball seem to fall together. Her last transplant was during the playoffs and this would have been over the All-Star break.

She has been at the top of the list for a while. It is not like there is just one person at the top. There is a pool of people for each blood type. Once the blood type is matched, there are something like 7 other markers for compatibility and that is what determines who gets the call out of the pool. The other two people were more compatible than mom, though the kidney could have worked for her as well.

It's not ghoulish. It's not a matter of "if" but "when." I have to admit, I assumed there would be more donors during a holiday like the 4th--lots of people driving on the roads and potential for accidents and such.

My cousin has had two kidney transplants but his body ended up rejecting them both (they were donated by his mother and brother). He's been on dialysis for a long, long time.

People are going to die. Lots and lots of them don't donate their organs, you are just hoping that they will.
