I, on the other hand, have been trolling YouTube and giggling like the schoolgirl I was when these videos were released.
Hair Band Videos, Best Of (aka, songs Dean Winchester sings along to)
GnR - Welcome To The Jungle. Purely because of Axl's hair. Not as much Slash as I would like.
Whitesnake - Here I Go Again. Girl in a white lace dress doing random ballet moves on cars.
Poison - Every Rose Has Its Thorn. BLESS.
Warrant - Heaven
Winger - Hungry. C'mon it starts with a random car crash!
Ratt - Round and Round.
Def Leppard - Women. It has comics!
Skid Row - 18 and Life. Damn.
Great White - Once Bitten, Twice Shy. Though listening to it, it's much more a southern/outlaw rock song than a hair band song. Strong elements of honky-tonk.
Quiet Riot - Cum On Feel The Noize. Lawd.
Piotr, you were NEVER young.
I refuse to let the MEAN lady ruin my good mood.
Y'know, I never could stand Hair Metal. Nor could 95% of my countrymen. It was just this anomaly we'd catch glimpses of and just shake our heads, and go back to the drugged-up Manchester scene... Which had it's own image problems, you betchya.
A few I forgot:
Motley Crue - Smokin' In The Boys Room
Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
Van Halen - Panama
Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf. Not hair band, but still worth a mention.
Piotr, you were NEVER young.
I refuse to let the MEAN lady ruin my good mood.
Chronologically young, sure. But I suspect you have always been wise beyond your years.
One day I was roaming the radio dial when I could have sworn I heard a punk rock song. I called my best friend, "turn on the radio! They're playing punk on the radio!" She did as I asked and then snorted, "This is Metallica! They're a heavy metal band!" Blew my mind, man.
"Dancing In The Dark"
And for comic value, Twisted Sister ones.
Ooh! Speaking of the 80s, the Cosby episode where they pretend to make Vanessa play Chug-a-Lug is on. Heh.
I just discovered one 90's band I really enjoyed - Senser - actually reformed and had an album out in 2004. I will be delving in amazon.co.uk sometime soon...
Next, I'm going to go find me some Curve videos.
Chronologically young, sure. But I suspect you have always been wise beyond your years.
Which is very funny, because I was actually a late developer emotionally. Really. I didn't develop an interest in girls until I was 16. And if you knew some of the retarded, immature shit I've done over the years you'd never say the above.
This brings up a point - which was first stired by an LJ quiz last week - that required me to answer a couple of questions of how my friends perceive me. I realized I really had no clue how people saw me - not even the slightest notion. Then, someone posted something about me in an LJ post that was so astonishingly flattering and talked about my confidence, that I was left thinking "Huh, if my name wasn't
right there,
I would never have known that was about me."
I was left thinking "Huh, if my name wasn't right there, I would never have known that was about me."
Body dysmorphia's got nothing on personality dysmorphia, if you ask me. It's very difficult to separate your fears and doubts and memories of behavior past from who you actually present to the world at large.
