I am so crazy envious of vw right now, between the brunch and the massage and the end of the semester (okay, so I haven't been in school since forever and am totally ineligible for an end of a semester, but I remember how good they felt and so I'm envious, so there).
ION, phoo. Matilda just woke up and is flumping around adorably looking all happy and sociable, and I just remembered where the Baby Bjorn is -- in our car with Hec and Emmett, for the entire 3-day weekend. Possibly it's time to get a little cheapie umbrella stroller, 'cause I'm not loving the prospect of 3 days of lugging our sturdy but largeish stroller in and out of buses. And Matilda must go out this weekend; she's being too sweet for me to hog her all to myself. All must admire!
Awww...JZ, you're too sweet. It really was lovley. I was VERY tense still and feel much better after the massage. And brunch was yummy too.
I wish I could come hang out with you and the Matilda. She sounds so delightful!
Ok - got a job offer! WHEE! Not from the company that I really want to work for, actually a company that I'm kind of "meh" on. The salary is really quite low. How do I counter offer?
Aimee, I'd contact the company you really want to work for and tell them you got another offer, but that their company is really your first choice and ask for a timeline on when they will be making decisions.
Aimee, I completely agree with ChiKat.
I just don't know what to say. Spanking the kitty.
That the behavior of a consenting adult cat is simply no business of mine?
Best I got.
What ChiKat said.
The way to counteroffer is pretty straightforward, but there's a little homework in finding out what the area average salary for the position type is. Then just say thanks for the offer. Would you consider X amount? If you've done your homework, you can phrase it as "Based on my skills/experience/whatever, my salary requirements are in the X to Y range."
We just got back from a long walk around our completely deserted business district. Office buildings are creepy when empty. There's a lot of green space and woods, though, and we saw many cottontails and one meter-plus black snake (a black racer I think).
Back from the baseball tourney in Fremont. All day spent on a middle school baseball field with a break for Chili's.
We won both games. In the first game Arlo lead off and hit a double into the gap on the first pitch. There is no outfield fence. Arlo is exceptionally fast. Home run.
Second game? First pitch, Arlo drives one into the gap and gets another home run. Next at bat? Same thing.
We went 2-0, beating the other topped rank team 7-0. Emmett went 4 for 5 in the first game and got a couple knocks in the second game.
Back out there tomorrow at 8:30am. Oof. All the kids are staying in a hotel tonight. That will be mayhem.
I'm all sundazzled and fried.
Yay on the wins, Hec, but that is quite a schedule.
