'The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco'

Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Aw, Robin, thank you. The shop does have a rep for friendly staff - I'm just very much a proponent of Dressing Appropriately (even when it means Dressing Inappropriately).

it's a different fun when most everyone is married, and you're not. And they're always trying to hook you up, with ANY single guy. Well, not any, but sometimes it feels like it.

I know this feeling. I also got the "everyone else is buying a house, I should too!" feeling every once in a while.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hivemind question - I got my hair done again Saturday. Kept the color, but had her cut it shorter. Big mistake - it's now kind of a shaggy/choppy pixie ...which wouldn't be bad, I kind of like it. BUT ... I have this cowlick I han't been aware of - right at the crown of my head. Suggestions on how to tame the wild cowlick? I use product to get it to stay choppy, but the cowlick seems to defeat it. Next time, I'll tell her I was wrong, thank her for doing what I asked, and hope she can fix it.

Todd, you might try a heavy texturizing product so that all your hair will look choppy pixie textures. You don't anything light like a mousse. The strong gel Ple mentioned should work. Try combing it in different directions and see if you can get a bit more compliance from your hair.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Hec! Could you please find me photos of mid-length to long bobs with bangs? I'm kinda-sorta thinking of cutting my hair.

(workday still sucks beyond the telling of it.)

Always Anti-fascist!

Yeah, to what the rest of the single women said. But since I don't hang out with S. anymore, I don't get set up. Which is good for me, but not for comedy, because I don't hear things like "maybe he's a *little* schizophrenic!" anymore.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

So today was Emmett's last day of elementary school (5th grade). I remember writing about his first day at Oceanview elementary on this board almost six years ago. I'm working this afternoon so I'm missing the graduation, but I dropped him off this morning and made sure I visited all his previous teachers and thanked them. It was nice to check in with them.

I don't know what we're going to do with him this summer. EM doesn't want him back at his usual summer camp because it's very near her psycho-Ex.

She's on disability leave through the end of the month so he can poke around for the next two weeks. Plus he's got baseball tournaments (which slop over onto weekdays) and he's officially a 10 y.o. All Star (separate from both the regular season and the tournament team) which will occupy some time in July.

I'm not sure how we're going to swing it. He's still too young to be left completely on his own during the day, but I'm not sure what kind of camp experience he'll want to do anymore.

Did he already do circus camp? That seems like it'd like up with his physical abilities.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

graduation

No way! I mean, I know it's true, but...

Also, congratulations, and no help at all on the camp dilemma.

Yes, ma'am. Though anything longer than shoulder length is techincally a pageboy not a bob.

So what length are we talking? Between chin and shoulder? Just above shoulder? Past shoulders? Or longer?

He did circus camp two summers ago, and it is conveniently located on our block. But he did the younger kids school and he'd need to go to the other circus arts place, which he's less familiar with. Also, it may be too late to sign him up for anything. But he did speak fondly of doing trapeze.

No way! I mean, I know it's true, but...

Shocking, isn't it?

Also, congratulations, and no help at all on the camp dilemma.

I'm hoping his Mom's camera is working since he was looking very cool and cute. With his hair and his fedora he was kind of working a Kid Rock look. Which, admittedly, isn't exactly au courant but he's cuter than Kid Rock.

Also nicer. And probably cleaner, as a rule.
