'The Killer In Me'

Spike's Bitches 36: Did I Sully Our Good Name?

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Always Anti-fascist!

You know, I've heard that. Your game is not like other people's. But I'm gonna keep trying with it. I can see why it attracts the fannish people.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

No, but you have to be patient, right? And the announcers get stoked about things I don't know enough to pick up. Which makes it a lot like my experience with religion, really.

You definitely have to be patient. Watching baseball is like rewatching an old Buffy episode with lots of people who know the whole canon. You talk in and around it. There are a lot of references and allusions. It's also a bit like going bowling, where it's mostly an excuse to socialize but there's a focused activity to keep the conversation going.

See if you can pick up an online feed of a Dodger game when Vin Scully is announcing the game. It's like Garrison Keillor at Woebegon. Just a tail spinner, that can captivate you with the sound of his voice.

And there are a lot of nuances to the game. When it looks like nothing is happening there are a lot of little subtle things going on (usually relating to how well the pitcher is pitching).

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Yeah, Erika, the more you know, the better it is. As the DH pointed out to me, in baseball they play almost every day over a period of months, so we get to really know the players over time and it is much more intimate than football or hockey. Also the announcers do just converse with each other during slow parts, which can be lots of fun if they are good announcers.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Really really rocking article in the LA Times about a western woman's experiences working in Saudi Arabia [link]

(It was posted in Salon's Broadsheet section, but I reeeeeaaaalllllly try not to read those letters. Or write them. Or be happy when I get a big red star...)

Anyway, its very interesting.

What is even happening?

P-C, those pictures are fabulous. The bananas one is a great homage to Hitchcock's The Birds. The cotton candy one is ridiculously creative. I think though, that the Oreo one speaks to something deep within my soul. Or belly. Or soul.

No hating of yourselves! Feel free, however, to direct all your hate at my mouth (teeth more specifically). I went in today for my third (out of four) cavity filling session and found out I need not one, but two root canals. When they were spraying air on my teeth to do today's fillings, another tooth screeched out in pain. Dentist xrayed and said that tooth's been dying for a while and it is now time to take care of it. The tooth next to it is also dying a slow death and will also need to be dealt with at some point in the near future. HATE YOU MOUTH!

Oh, GAH, GC. I'm sorry.

Shit, just yank the fuckers and start over. I guess what I was blessed with in terms of straight teeth (no braces or retainers) is made up for with the curse of crappy substance. Dude, am I even making sense? I think the novicaine (sp?) has made its way to my brain.

I'm also irrationally pissed off about Paris being out of jail. Fuck that. Could she maybe send some money and her lawyer over to Nidorf to help a few kids out? Fuckers.
