oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

I found the remote. Where I looked for it before. But I got to sit before going back into the garden. I am trying to work up to the idea of an hour at a time in the garden. So far my lungs refuse, but after I fully recover from last week's cold, I suspect it will be possible. I keep coming across articles where the writer seems astonished that women appreciate the 'found exercise' of gardening ( and avoid loud power tools in the garden, partly because of this reason).

ma ~~~ to Matt's mother - I don't know if I said that before. and general smite to the people at vw's Best Buy.

Mostly lurking...

Let me 'splain. No, let me try to sum up (which never really works very well for me).

vw's day:

  • vw realizes that already-owned keyboard and mouse are not going to work with new docking station for laptop, because they need to be USB and are currently PS2. vw decides that she will purchase new ergonomically correct keyboard and mouse. She goes to bestbuy.com, picks out one she likes, puts it in her shopping cart, then goes back to hook up docking station to her currently-owned monitor.

  • vw can't figure out how to make the monitor do more than show the picture from her desktop on her laptop. She decides that it's because the laptop is wide screen and her monitor is not. She decides to buy a wide screen monitor. (It should be noted that after getting said monitor home, she realized that that was not actually the problem, but that's another story, and she's trying to give the short version here.) So, she goes back to bestbuy.com, finds a monitor on sale, puts it in her shopping cart, and searches to see if there is a Best Buy near her that has both items. Tada! There is! vw rents a zipcar, and off she goes.

  • vw gets to Best Buy just after they've pulled her item. Yes, you read that right. If vw would have waited at home for the confirmation e-mail, like a responsible person, she would have found out that they were, in fact, out of the monitor she ordered. They promised to help her find something comparable. After looking for a while, they actually found one that was a bit cheaper. vw agrees to purchase, and off they go. Only, when they rang it up, it rang up $100 more than it was supposed to. Turned out that they didn't actually have the one that was cheaper...they only had models that were about $100 more than the ones she had originally wanted. vw says, fine, but if I'm going to pay that much money, I'd prefer xyz brand. The nice manager guy sends another worker off to grab that brand. vw goes to pay. It rings up $10 more than she though, but at that point, she just wanted to go home and get everything set up, so she was like, whatev.

  • vw gets home, sets up the monitor, and realizes that it is not, in fact, wide screen, even though they had extensively talked about that at Best Buy. Manager guy must not have told worker guy, and he grabbed the wrong one. vw leaves it up for a bit to see if she can get it working and realizes that the monitor problem all along was a setting in the docking station, not the monitor. She gives up on that for a bit and goes to set up the keyboard and mouse.

  • vw opens the keyboard and mouse, pulls out all of the parts, and realizes that they are not, in fact, USB, but still PS2. She screams. And swears. She calls the nice manager guy at Best Buy to yell at him. Fortunate for him, he had left for the day. So, she talks to another manager, and tells him that yes, everything is open, but she is still bringing it all back, and they better fix this and make her happy. Oh, and she can't figure out how to take the monitor apart, so she can't even get it back in the box, and they'll just have to deal.

  • vw rents another zipcar, and heads back to Best Buy. She sees the correct monitor sitting there at customer service, waiting for her. She calms a bit. It finally becomes her turn, and she shares her sad story with the customer service guy. He is perplexed about the keyboard and mouse, because he is certain it is USB. He even points out that it says so on the box. So, they take it all apart again, and vw adamantly points out that it is PS2. He pulls off the PS2 part to show that underneath is the USB. vw feels stupid and exchanges the monitor and leaves quickly, forgetting to get her parking ticket validated.

  • vw returns her zipcar, gets a foo-foo ice cream drink, and heads home to set everything up. Everything works hunky dory, and she lives happily ever after.

You should know I'm a big deal in the Resistance.

Eep VW that sounds like a mostly not fun day. Are you enjoying your computer now that you have it all together?

Yeah. Actually, I am. I'd be enjoying it even more if I'd go put together my new office chair. But, with the way the day has gone, I'm kind of afraid of the chair. But, soon. Really. I'll put it together. And then you'll all get to hear of more adventures.

the day ended with ice cream - not all bad

Exactly.

Our wings are not tired.

but all of my family just came back in the room

Time to expand that family term to include all the not blood people that love and appreciate you. I'm sorry those other family people are poopyheads.

Aww, vw, all's well that ends well. And tomorrow chair!

Did housework stuff today. Including hooking up Bobby's computer again. I had removed it due to school issues.

School's Out For Summer!

I am having a Goldilocks issues. WE are heading out to dinner in half an hour, but i was hungry. I tried 3 different crackers. 1 was too oninony, one was too salty, and one was too bland. None of them were just right.

I think you are right, Laga - sesame sounds like the perfect idea. DH finishing in the garage would be good too.
