Experimental TV: Non-Fiction

This thread is part of an experiment to discern the Buffistas' future interest in television discussion. It will remain open until June 1st, 2007, upon which date there will be spirited debate regarding the infinite possibilities for our board's development. This thread is for non-fiction tv, including but not limited to documentaries and reality shows. [NAFDA]

I do believe in killing the messenger, you know why? Because it sends a message. ~ Damon Salvatore

what channel are we talking about here? i looked on BBCA and didn't see it.

p.s. does this really belong in the Non-Fiction thread?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Um. Sorry. Thread-jumping.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

So, I don't quite understand "On the Lot." Did I miss an episode? Wasn't there supposed to be an ep where people were eliminated based on a one hour take?

Anyway, tonight's ep was interesting but TOO drawn out. How you draw out 18-20 minutes worth of films into a 2 hour program is really outrageous.

Some of the films tonight were really really bad. I think it should be pretty easy to predict who will be eliminated. The guy who did "Wacky Cab" needs to go yesterday. Ack. That was some atrocious shit.

Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

I think this was acutally the third episode of OTL. I didn't watch the previous ones. I agree, there were only a few good films.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Fox must have skipped one, because DH and I noticed the same thing! On Thursday there were 34 and they were in the middle of shooting the films that would narrow the field to 18. Fox must have decided not to risk another night of low ratings and just move on to the semifinals.

I also don't think the online voting is working, because I haven't gotten my confirmation email yet and it's been almost half an hour. And I don't care enough to pay for a text message.

Right now I'm all about Zach (adorable + Canadian + post-production geek + robots on fire = LOVE), but I'll also vote for the first woman to chuck something sharp and pointy at Gary Marshall's head.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Garry Marshall was crazy condescending to the women tonight, wasn't he? Wow.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I think someone must've told Garry to be sensitive to any women's issues and he didn't know what to do with it. I hope his sister whacks some sense into him.

Carrie needs to let some of her sharper wit out. She's trying to be too nice.

With tape delay and FF, the 2 hour show wasn't terrible but I finished watching too late to vote online. I liked Check Out and Danger Zone, but the best was Dance Man.

I felt a little bad for the last guy. He had to sit through the whole show knowing thinking "Oh crap, they don't like fart jokes!"

Yowza - OTL only pulled in a 2.4 last night. (http://www.mediaweek.com/mw/newsletters/proginsider/index.jsp)

Anyone wanna take bets on how many they eliminate next week? I'm guessing at least 5.

Art Crawl!!!

You think they'll just skip to the finale? (I mean, these things are pre-taped, right?)

I think the broadcast is pre-taped, but voting is live (and there's a live results show tonight, same as with Idol), so the only way to skip ahead to the finale would be to eliminate more people every week so the finale comes faster. I doubt it'll be given another 2-hour timeslot.

The one mitigating factor is that all the networks did really badly last night -- CBS was at the top with a 5.8 -- so it's not like Fox tanked because another show had their audience. Everyone was just out barbequeing instead of watching TV.
