The latest Dancing with the Stars results show was really cute. The samba to Bat out of Hell was surprisingly effective, and I do love the "analysis". I've been skipping these becasue they were boring, but this one is pretty good.
Eta: and baby dancers! Adorable. Though some of those moves look wrong done by little girls.
Last night, my kids were watching AI and Julia said, "Who's Bon Jovi?"
Ben said, "I don't know. Well, actually, I kind of do. He's an old singer."
"How come I never heard of him?"
"He's from way back, like in the '80s or something."
"He's from way back, like in the '80s or something."
But didn't the 50s seem like real olden times when you were your kids' ages? They did to me anyway. SO ancient. (that never fails to freak me out that the 80s are to pre-teens today what the 50s were to me when I started to be into pop music at that age.)
I started listening to Oldies stations in the 70s, but granted the music was only 10-20 years old then....
When Drive did the "25 Years Ago" flashback, DH was all thinking outloud about cool period cars until I pointed out that that was 1982. We were both a little stunned by that realization.
Did anyone else see Deadliest Catch on Discovery Channel last night? Best example of karma ever. They recapped the man-overboard rescue from last week (when they pulled him aboard the Time Bandit, he still had his glasses and baseball cap on!!), and then the boat went from pulling up 5-crab average pots to 100+ average!
Deadliest Catch: OMG! Time Bandits are freaking heroes! That rescue episode freaked me out so badly. And to see them this ep recovering from that and dealing with just the sheer emotion of it.
To go straight from that to pulling the most amazing pots I've ever seen. What was that one 150+? I have never seen that before. I know fishermen are superstitious, but it's stuff like that that makes them so. I could really believe that the sea is rewarding their heroism with its bounty.
It's weird, huh, how the dude is just a passenger now. There's no way to get him back to his boat so they'll just keep him until they're done.
I have got to stop watching this show; it's way too stressful to me. Although I think I'm about to be amused at whatever boneheaded mistake the Maverick makes next episode. Rookie captain. I loved how he checked in, and the Time Bandit felt bad for him and couldn't tell him how much they were pulling in. Hee.
And then I've got to stop watching!
The captain's kid, Jake, over on the Cornelia Marie was turning my stomach when he pulled his own tooth, or most of it (his dad egging him on in the background didn't help!). I did laugh at last week's ep, when the dad went off on the other son's shopping spree: "No more credit to these guys. The bank is closed!" Such a parental thing to say.
Oh, I know! I fast-forwarded through that bit. I could not even watch.
Yeah, it was funny. They were all, "But we needed this stuff! Lookit!"
