Sounds like Gray to me as well. And I think my fave John Hart moment was when he learned that Jack can't die. There is the flabbergast, and the sudden comprehension of the pain and agony that Jack must endure for each "death" and each "resurrection", the empathy, and then the subtle shift into falsehoods as he talks about the horror of coming back to life in Earth, in Torchwood, with those people, but that last part seems like such a lie, like your seeing a bit of self-deception.

I'm still curious as to why John was so soft with the team and went out for immediate murder with Jack. The former makes me think he didn't really want to overtly harm anyone permanently, and then he "kills" Jack. I'm sure there's a method to the madness, but I'm not sure what that method is yet.

Loved the humor, loved the editing and zoominess and the backwards music (I wasn't able to watch enough of the first season to know if that has always been a part of the show). Love love love Ianto, and am glad (although I couldn't say why) that they picked back up on the attraction that Gwen has to Jack (again, from what I saw it seemed like they dropped that angle like a bad habit in the first season, but what do I know?)

To be precise, he moved to Aurora when he was 8, and then to Joliet (making him a hometown boy to me!!) four years later, where he graduated from Joliet West (a year behind Andy Dick, whom he was best friends with). In interviews, he says he developed the Midwest accent ASAP after moving here to eliminate the teasing he got from the kids over his brogue.

As for tonight's BBCA ep, LOVED IT!! My sis and BIL are even tuning in for the first time due to the James Marsters appearance (BIL is a huge Buffy fan, and Sis is getting into BtVS as well as being an old-time Doctor Who fan, even though she has yet to get into the new series).

But, I loved just about everything about it except for the Gwen/Jack mushy stuff--loved their tussling over who is in charge of Torchwood, though. One of my favorite little bits was when Capt. John suggested an all-team orgy, and Ianto was considering it briefly before re-aiming his pistol.

Torchwood 2.1: The first time I meant to say it, but when you all said there was a good balance of snogging & fighting I didn't realize you mean in such quick succession. There was the Kiss Kiss and there was the Bang Bang and there wasn't too much else.

I adore the Ianto reaction shots to everything. And of course, I just adore Ianto himself. "Are you going back to him?"

Are we supposed to see Tosh & Owen getting set up, with all the "nobody I can relate to" conversation? Or were they just commiserating?

I saw the potential set-up for Tosh and Owen, Liese. Seemed rather anvilicious to me. But it could have been a red-herring for some other triangle-to-be.

Second time round, JM was even less Spike-like (as in, I'm personally getting over his hair not being blond.)

Could AD's general asshattery be a façade?

Not really, no. He was a nice enough kid in high school (we were in an acting class together the summer between junior and senior year), but I could see how Hollywood, drugs, and just sheer asshattery could take over. He was a class clown/theater geek combo with the potential of letting the ego take over even back then. And you probably read about his homecoming king campaign from when I posted it (he won with the poster slogan "Don't vote for a jock--vote for A. Dick!").

So did the editors slice up the ends of shots, did they speed up the BBC broadcast, am I just drunk, or any/all to make TW 2.1 fit into US broadcast times?

(And don't get me started with what they did at the end of The Runaway Bride to fit into an hour. Fuming, I was.)

Owen could do much much worse. Tosh could do much much better....
