I tried "Doctor Who" and couldn't get past the 8th or 9th ep of the new first season. I have watched every ep of "Torchwood" and enjoyed them mostly.
Just go along for the ride. Not a lot to worry about with regard to overlap.

TV scientists aren't very bright.

I realize this is a fairly minor plot point, I guess, but it drives me NUTS that suddenly Cameron is unable to fake being a high school student, when she was totally undercover in the pilot.
