To understand what happened at the diner, we shall use Mr. Papaya! This is upsetting because he's the friendliest of fruits.

Well, Jack Alpha, from "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" arrives after Original Captain Jack Harkness has died, right? That's why he takes his name.

Possibly, although I can't help but wonder if he's not in the UK a day or two before taking action -- he has his ship to hole up in, after all -- which would mean there are three simultaneous Jacks for a few hours. Otherwise, there are two sets of two Jacks. Which, actually, is more likely.

the Untied Kingdom

I thought those were the Thatcher years?

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Bwah!

Also, wait, what do you mean two sets of two Jacks? Our Jack Alpha and Dead Original Jack, and Our Jack Gamma and Hot Dancing About To Lead Into Death Original Jack?

eta: No, you must mean Our Jack Beta and Not Dead Yet Original Jack, who were not actually in proximity to each other. Right?

Not that Original Jack had multiple instances. Just that he was in the timeline simultaneously with multiple instances of Our Jack.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I think he means that Jack Beta (long-lived Jack) overlapped, at different times, with both Jack Alpha and Jack Gamma.

It's nice that Jack's respect for the timeline outweighed his desire to have sex with himself. You know it crossed his mind.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

There's still the missing two years to play with. Maybe he retconned himself!

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Oh, okay.

And also, bwah!

For a moment the other day (when I was looking for Jack/Ianto vids, sue me) I forgot about Original Jack and saw Jack/Jack and thought it was a timeline sex with himself thing. Imagine my relief when I remembered.

And thus were born a thousand fanfics ...

And by born, do you mean mpreg?

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Let's not forget, Torchwood has canonical mpreg...
