Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.

A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

This is clearly one of those places where the senses of humor of the SG staff (men) diverge from a large part of their viewing audience.

Are we a large part of the viewing audience? Even on the Sci Fi channel I felt that me and the people I know were not that representative.

Okay, maybe I should ask who "we" are--is it women you mean?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I was not particularly thrilled with either of the SGs. If I never see another alternate universe or slimy person using technology to wow stupid villagers episode again, it will be too soon. It also leads me to pondering why all these villagers have stuck with medieval technology for thousands of years, something that is better not pondered if I want to enjoy SG.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Media fandom, specifically the people I interact with on LJ and here. Apparently when Mikita referred to "fans", he meant "people at Gateworld." And I don't go to Gateworld, but I've been told those fans are mostly male. And they don't like Rodney so much (crazy talk!).

That's incredibly lax security on the part of Weir, Shepherd, etc.

Did that happen in this episode, or was it referring back to unseen events in "Irresistable"? Because in that Weir (and Rodney, and most everyone else) was under Lucius' control and Sheppard spent much of the time either away or confined. All sorts of security protocols got compromised, beginning with Carson bringing him to Atlantis in the first place.

When I got to the part where Richard Kind appeared Friday night I immediately muted my TV and fell asleep. It was as if my brain opted for unconsciousness as the best hope of self-preservation.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'll hand-wave that the personal shield that Rodney found and wore in Atlantis was a primitive prototype, and the one that Lucius turned up had more of the bugs worked out.

On the rest, I got nuthin'.

Thrive to spite them

You're right Matt, everyone pretty much fell under Lucious spell. I'd forgotten that.

I'd pretty much forgotten everything except Lucious =annoying .

Art Crawl!!!

SPN: Did you catch the director's cuts? I love how with different lighting or hair Sam can look years younger. Weird. Also, want episode now.

I'm sadly used to 'fan favourite' not having anything to do with me, so I rarely think the term inaccurate when it disagrees with me or mine.

Didn't mind SG1, except she needed to ask about Jack. I like their alt universes.

I'm not surprised that female fannish...fans are not the most prominent demographic in the eyes of the SG producers. I'm surprised that anyone thinks "Critical Mass" was a good episode.
