Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Dr Who: I think they've done a pretty good job of defining Martha, above and beyond not!Rose. The not!Rose part to me seems to be more in how the Dr. reacts to her. I like her because she's bright and resourceful...not that Rose wasn't so much, but Martha's mind races ahead with things. Oh, and the pining doesn't hurt. Rose would never have done that, but I sure would have. He's kinda hot. I think they're doing a good job of defining a different sort of spunky (sometimes I hate that word, but not right now) and useful female hottie companion.

Who 3.5: I actually liked the fact that the Doctor was prepared to face the Daleks and seemed perfectly ready to die; he's at a stage where he just doesn't care any more, again. Poor Martha. Even the hug, which seemed genuine, was instantly regretted .

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I agree with ita re: Martha; I like her a lot and I feel like I know who she is and have a good idea of how she'll react to a situation. I could do with a little less of the pining myself, though I do think it's very understandable. It's interesting to me how much Rose's shadow is hanging over the whole season to date, which I hadn't expected.

I thought this episode was really pretty silly, though some of that could have been redeemed with a better script. I think Ten is a lot more foolhardy than Nine was, with all the strutting about unarmed in front of the Daleks. I admire Ten's bravery, but I don't trust him like I trusted Nine.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Nine's reaction to being the only Time Lord left was sort of sociopathic, like he would kill anything just because. This season's Ten seems, as mentioned, almost suicidal. It's not his morals that may have left him, like Nine, but his self-preservation instinct.

Re: Who 3X5 I can't believe a sun flare at midnight was what the Daleks were going to use to power their system. The DNA stuff was silly, but that's pretty darn absurd.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

"Irresponsible", or whatever the title of this week's SGA is, irritates me so much that I tend to literally forget it exists. I don't think it's as bad an episode as "Critical Mass," but...yeah. You had to bring back Lucius? You had to waste Kolya? You had to completely fuck up your own canon on how the personal shield works?

In my head, the season goes from 312 (Echoes) straight into 314.

Remind me of the previous canon, will you?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Re: Who 3X5 -- The whole conflating of a solar flare with a lightning storm had me flummoxed, but I just went with it.

It makes no sense that Lucius was able to have someone with the ATA gene activate the shield and then give it to him. Or that he was able to take it/turn it on and off. Or that he was able to EAT through it.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Oh, God. Lucius was irritating. But the thing that pissed me off the most was the complete waste of one of the most interesting villains in the SGA-verse. Kolyla deserved a better fate than this.
