It's a shame, because I could see flashes of potential in the bit I watched -- the bit where they didn't disguise the extreme height difference between Chenowith and Ned's actor but exaggerated it and had her pointedly leap up on a table to face him was self-aware television, the good way -- but no amount of that could make up for the buzz saw annoyance of that narration. That constant, constant, "We are so cute and self-affectedly fairytalish don't you LOVE US" narration.
And I wonder, what possible catastrophe came crashing down from heaven and brought this dashing stranger to tears?

Personally, I like twee. I think the narration is what makes the show stand out from others. In a way, I feel like I'm watching a silent movie with someone else reading the script. It complements the overbright colors, like a cartoon strip with thought bubbles.

The Digby part actually made me sniffle. They ran toward each other and... they should have held each other, wahhhh! And Digby knows not to touch his master. I don't know if that's adorable or sad. Both, I think.

I kind of liked the homage as it stood... but their singing did make me smile. Because, really, how do you hear that song and not smile?
