I really feel for Olive, we've never seen Ned say explicitly he's not interested and I wonder if he's ever said that, or if he said it so many times he gave up.

He has kind of given Olive dubious or even disgusted looks when she's made her affections clear, though. I guess someone wacky in the throes of a huge crush could misinterpret those, but to the outside observer it doesn't look as if he finds her appealing even in the abstract. Kind of icky, in fact.

Given how emotionally limited Ned is, I can't imagine he ever tried to talk to Olive. Tried to avoid, unsuccessfully.
