"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

a.k.a. Magical.

Ick.

When I saw him healing Alison I immediately thought, "He's a black, autistic kid who understands things others can't and has magical healing powers. How did Cuba Gooding Jr. not snag this role?"

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

How did Cuba Gooding Jr. not snag this role?

... aaaaand I need a new monitor and keyboard.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

perpetuating the misconception.

I thought the point of the ep was exactly the opposite.

As for the magical kid, I think his colour is irrelevant to the trope, so he's just magically handicapped.

Yeah. Go check out the Wikipedia entry for "Akashic Records". Very mystical/new-agey stuff that scientists have glommed onto as a possible "unified theory". Funny how they'll accept a mystical solution to the problem as long as it doesn't include the big "G" word.

Who is this "they" of which you speak?

Art Crawl!!!

Amazon finally fixes the pricing error on their listing of the Razor dvd.

I bet when it ships I'll get a message showing the price dropping from the original wrong price all the way down to whatever it is now.

What is even happening?

Can I change CFerg's user name to "Hot Lunch"? It's a little too perfect.

Oh please yes please ita please. Of course then my husband will never let me post here again. I came home from a bad, hard, long meeting last night and he started asking me about it. I finally said, "I don't want to talk about it. I just want to eat some cookies and watch Jack." I didn't even have the diplomacy in me to say, "Eureka."

I am leaving. You are about to explode. ~Teal'c, 'Talion'

Humorless? That wasn't Torchwood and you weren't watching at a Legion of Rassilon meeting.

Um...yes it was and no I wasn't, but I have seen the whole season (I'm in the UK) so my opinion is cumulative, a result of things that happen further along. I was certainly willing to love it, hoping that each ep would change my opinion for the better. Unfortunately, quite the opposite. I'll be interested to see what people here think as the season moves along.

All this time, I thought Hunter was a bitch. Turns out she was just hungry.

Ok. My bunch saw the season as a group (about 20-25) and our reaction was quite different than yours. Generally Torchwood was a real crowd pleaser for us.

Ausiello had something Smallville in his weekly report:

  • By the middle of the premiere, one woman will be officially pronounced dead.

It's got to be Chloe, which saddens me, because Chloe kicks ass and I'm tired of Lana. But I can't see anything else playing out. Lana and the others are all canon, and Chloe isn't.
