Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I hated Stark all first season, and didn't even get why all y'all thought he was hot. I heart him this season. Evidently jerks in power == hate-on. Jerks snarking from below == comedy gold.
I am now on my guard against the impending emergence of Evil!Colin. Is he like (whitefonted for WWtBaSH):
Evil!Stan? Does he turn unexpectedly into Giant!Evil!Colin?
I am also deeply amused by the appropriate usage of "an" in the sentence:
I'm in Puerto Rico shooting an MOW.
Dunno why. It's a thing.
I'm in Puerto Rico shooting an MOW.
And, see, I read MOW as "Monster Of the Week", and pondering what it was going to be shot with, laser Ray O'Death, or phaser, or zat, or what. Also, briefly wondering how it became Colin's responsibility to take out errant monsters. I mean, aren't there special monster handlers? But then the other possible reading popped into my head, and suddenly his trip to Puerto Rico got a whole lot more boring.
Now that Stark isn't large and in charge, he is a jerk like older brothers and that special brand of jerk that a jock who is also smart and a senior in high school can be a jerk to a freshman. Much petty jerkishness.
exactly. He's just not a good person. And I think that the reason that I don't like him is that he looks down on Carter for his lack of scientific education, when it is often Carter's skills that generate solutions. Yes, it takes the technical expertise to figure out how to do it when Carter says "what if we freeze it", but you wouldn't have gotten there without him.
the other possible reading
It's "movie of the week," right? I'm apparently very slow today, mostly cause I don't understand why it deserves an "an".
Boxed Set: Even Genre TV Needs Grammar
I don't understand why it deserves an "an".
If you treat it as an initialism, then it's "an emm oh doubleyou." As an acronym, it's "a mow."
All in how you look.
I just think Stark's condescension is hot, she says, possibly revealing...okay, nothing new.
Ahh! Clearly, I was reading it as an acronym.
I would also agree that Stark's condescension is hot. As is, you know, Stark.
Whew. I'm glad I wasn't the only one. I read "an movie of the week" and didn't understand the grammar rule. Honestly, I first read "monster of the week" also. Megasnake?

My votes-
Colin has BBoC factor? Y
Stark is exponentially hotter and funnier this year? Y
TWoP is having its Tubey Awards. Eureka has been nominated for Best New Show.
I just think Stark's condescension is hot, she says, possibly revealing...okay, nothing new.
Nothing new, but definitely right. Or, I should say, and definitely right.
I (almost) always read acronyms as their initials, so it's an an for me there, too. Like, lolcats is "el oh el cats" to me.
Yay! Go Eureka! Choose Eureka!
