Ailleann, I looked him up on Wikipedia, he does some kind of power of suggestion/hypnotism.

I haven't seen the show on SCI FI and the ads look misleading, but he doesn't pretend to actually have any special mind powers or do magic. He says that what he's doing is the power of suggestion
