So far I've seen no evidence that FNL was mentioned in the Emmys.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I think it got a directing nom, but that's about it. Sorry.

Because books.

Wait, aren't the Emmys in the spring? Oh no, that's the Oscars, right? Emmys are Septemberish?

Eureka got an Emmy nom for visual effects. Yay!

Good for them. Odd, though, despite the very sci-fi-ness of the show, I never thought the effects were all that prominent (which I think is a good thing as that means they are serving the story). Who else got nominated for effects?

Um. BSG, and I forget who else. Probably some of the CSIs.

I wanted to go to Roanoake the last time we were in the Outer Banks, but we never got there.

I was trapped in Roanoke earlier this year. If Sam and Dean had been there, I wouldn't have complained about it as much as I did.

Mountainous, very picturesque, absolutely nothing to do on a Sunday night. Airport had a grand total of six gates. Run-down hotel wasn't the Overlook, but still creepy. Don't bother ordering the fettucini.

I just read in Minearverse that Drive got an effects nome...for miniseries, movie or special.

Guess the Emmys decided that Tim needed some salt for his wounds.

Ann, that's a ferret.

The Roanoke colony is interesting. If you do go, I'd recommend you combine it with a trip to the nearby Elizabethan Garden. Plus the Manteo Bookseller (if it's still there) in nearby Manteo.

And it's easy to find somewhere for a good lunch in Manteo. Adds up to a very pleasant day.

Haven't been to Roanoke, VA.

Manteo was charming! I took the boys to the aquarium, which was nice, too. You could reach in and touch ... something, I forget what. Manta rays? Something not vicious.

I adore the Outer Banks. It's been a few years since we were down there, and I'm hoping to get back next year. Much mellower than my old summer stomping grounds, the Jersey shore.

If Sam and Dean had been there, I wouldn't have complained about it as much as I did.

That's true of just about anywhere, for me.

Haven't been to Roanoke, VA.

It struck me as the kind of place where the gas station was the only thing open on a Sunday night. And honestly, if I want that experience, all I have to do is go visit my parents.

Sam and Dean wouldn't be able to stay long in a place like that, where nothing happens. It's so boring that my grandma keeps binoculars next to her chair in the living room so she can spy on the neighbors. Everybody would be all up in their business in a matter of hours!
