Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I liked the SG-1 finale well enough. I think I liked the S8 finale better, as series finales go. Still...
Juliebird - yeah, I remember thinking how just mean Daniel was being. I think I'da made him wait a good long while after that little display.
I also remember wondering what Vala was crying about in the montage. I found that kind of random. Ah, well. Show, I loved you. Thanks for the memories. And, yay, for upcoming TV movies!
I figured she was crying about being stuck there. As would I...when I wasn't pulling a Cam and trashing shit.
I would probably be Camlike, in total. Exercising, fighting, having pointless arguments, and breaking shit.
I thought it was a sweet episode. Sweet's not why I tune in to SG1, but it was a fitting way to end it for me.
I did find that 50 years of tedium did make for pretty tedious television. I found it hard to believe that Sam and Daniel would not try to save some of the knowledge they'd gained. It seemed out of character for them to not even talk about it. I did, however, think that the team heading back out through the stargate was the exact right ending.
Sentinel was the first fandom I wrote slash in. I think I discovered online slash fandom with TS; even though I'd been aware of its existence before, I hadn't bothered to go look for it. I always cringed at how badly the show was written, but the characters got me. There was some really good TS fanfic, way better than the show. X-Files def. had a large fanfic and slash fandom before TS. Slash started in XF with Mulder and Skinner, and picked up steam when Krycek came along. (Heh.)
I'm going to miss SG-1, even though I haven't watched it in ages. That's odd.
Oh, and I loved the visual of the ship exploding and unexploding around Teal'c. That was quite sweet.
My TiVo has balked at SGA two weeks in a row. Last week I was okay with passing up, but the season ender? Even as I bitch I'm still wanting to see it.
Doctor Who
!!!
The ends of the seasons always get
flaily with this show, eh?
I suppose that's true of most shows. Although most shows don't have
the FATE OF THE WORLD AND/OR UNIVERSE OMG hanging in the balance each year.
I don't think I totally understood
the Lazarus screwdriver bit, but what the hell??? Aaah!
I'm not sure how I feel about
Simm's Master, because it's so...goofy, kinda, but it's also got that "scary because it's goofy" thing going for it. That Doctor/Master phone call was damn awesome.
I can't wait till next week, though. Aahh!! I want to know
what those things are! And what the Paradox Machine does! Well, actually, I guess the Paradox Machine ripped a hole in reality or something. But I want the TARDIS back! And how the hell will the Doctor un-age and save the day?
Aaaaahh!!
Doctor Who:
OMG, the Doctor and the Master totally had phone sex. Bitter phone sex, but still. The Doctor's getting pretty good at having intense conversations through doors and across phone lines.
Also,
the Master's going to be sorry he pissed off Martha. But as evil supervillians go, you have to love anyone who 1) uses (and enforces) the word "decimate" properly and 2) HAS HIS OWN EVIL THEME SONG.
Yeah,
The Master
was totally hard core. If you're going to
twirl your moustache and cackle
that's the way to do it.
As for the Doctor
and Master phone call--yes. Had that same harsh intimacy almost as last week's Doctor/Jack conversation.
Dana, yeah, as soon as they used
the word "decimate," I was thinking about how that word is always used improperly (even I only clued into its true meaning fairly recently), and then...he used it RIGHT.
Good point on the
moustache-twirling,
ita.
Hey, SPN folks: JP has hazel eyes, yes?
