Nora, he's pretty awesome.

Boxed Set, Vol. IV: It's always suicide-mission this, save-the-planet that.
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" (read: sci fi or fantasy) show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
that's what I thought for the first couple episodes until I shifted perspective and saw the show as a cop show with sci-fi elements and not the other way around
P-C is me. The retro-70s elements (esp. the music) were big selling points as well.
Yeah, the retro-70s stuff grabbed me right away, especially the music and the clothes. (The huge lapels! The bellbottoms!) I really love the whole setting.
Whereas I don't really care about the retro stuff at all and sometimes wonder why they couldn't tell these stories in present day. I'm not familiar enough with '70s Britain to know how much has changed. One thing that sort of bugs me is, what, police corruption is a completely new concept to Sam? Surely, he's encountered it in 2006 as well. It's solidly done, however, so I don't give it too much guff. I also enjoy Nelson, the bartender.
I don't give it too much guff.
I don't think I've heard guff used this way--what do you mean by it?
"Shit"? This seems to be yet another example of my using the wrong word. It sounded right.
In my head, guff is something you give a person--backtalk, truculence, that sort of stuff.
Oh, for people who watch LoM and have seen Hot Fuzz --did the Andys remind you of the two LoM detectives? Whose names completely escape me?
Sam and Gene. Unless you mean Chris and Ray.
Chris and Ray are the matched set, right? Yeah, them. Suck with memory, I do.
eta: Of course, all this S1 talk is making me think of S2 and getting a little choked up at the end.
Ray, definitely. But not Chris. Chris is the adorable, eager-to-please puppy.
OMG, I really have to catch up on S2 of LoM. Maybe this weekend. And I have all the unwatched Dresden Files on my TiVo and the last few episodes of SG-1 season 10 and... doesn't Eureka come back soon?
