See, and it's funny that I'd have any kind of twitch response to Sam/Ellen, given the following random SPN pairings that have really worked for me in fic:
- Jess/John
- Jess/Dean
- I swear I saw Jess/Jo and liked it, or maybe I just dreamed it. You know, I'm seeing a theme here, involving Jess. Hmm.
- Jo/Ash.
Huh. Really? That surprises me. Then again, I'm kinda-sorta new to the fandom.
I think it's a case where one decent writer ran with it, and a few others followed. I'm kind of guilty of that in other fandoms, so.

I read a Sam/Jess/Dean fic that I really liked sometime this week. Which isn't really the same thing, but the dynamic between Jess and Dean was interesting, and so different than the one between her and Sam.
Now I can't remember who wrote it. Being fannish is hard. I always hated notetaking.
