This girl at school? She told me that gelatin is made from ground-up cow's feet and that every time you eat Jell-O there's some cow out there limping around without any feet. But I told her that I'm sure the cow is dead before they cut its feet off, right?

YAY, the start up airline I bought tickets to Columbus for has started and has good buzz! [link]

Now tagless for your comfort.

They better do well, Nora. The city gave 'em $60 million in tax breaks. When you coming to town?

not your mom's socks.

every other semester, I teach one class at a local university. it's a 2 1/2 hour class that meets once a week. There's a big workshopish component - it's not all 1 to 1. The school usually enroll 20-25 students and a peek at the syllabus results in the-incredible-shrinking-class. Which is perfectly fine - the keepers are always cool. So I posted my syllabus early, hoping that if people knew what to expect, they'd have an easier time deciding... (stop laughing). And I just got an email asking if I would accept X as a student, even though he/she can't come to class - *ever*, because he/she is teaching a course at another school at that time. WTF? If I'm there, and not phoning it in...

Ok, I just had a flashback to Real Genius, where all the tape recorders are recording the professor... ei.

Compassionately intolerant

Quick marathon walk training update.

Today, I did 7 miles and broke my land speed record. At 5 miles, I was cruising at 13.34...a full minute off my normal time. At the 7 mile mark, I was down to 13.07!!1!

And I feel great.

Woot!

Turning you back now to your regularly scheduled programming.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Excellent, Beej!

Skybus sounds quite promising. Unfortunately they fly nowhere near me.

I got 2 of my 8 (!!!) cavities filled this morning. I am sipping coffee through a straw so that I do not burn my half-numb mouth. I go back next Thursday to do 2-3 more. Yay?

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I so sympathize with you, GC. I've never had eight discovered at once, but I did have four back in my college days. The dentist decided to fill them all at once, and since they were placed one in each quadrant of my jaws (upper right, lower right, upper left, lower left), he numbed up the entire mouth to take care of them. That was fun for a few hours afterward!

That's terrible! My dentist is going the quadrant route. Today was upper right. Next week is upper left. She said the uppers are easier than lowers, so there's that to look forward to.
