Doesn't Las Vegas have some kind of ordinance that shifts the fault to the pedestrian if s/he jay-walks or crosses against the light? Still, in all other (normalish) cities, you hit someone, you're going to be at fault. There might be some contributory negligence on the pedestrian, but the driver is screwed.

Hitting someone with your car can be traumatic too, I remember having to fight the urge to submerge into deep denial, because I was so horrified at myself. But I still refrained from being a jackwad about the whole thing. (I think. I hope.)
