Allergies are very bad this year, so it could just be your mild allergies reacting to the horrible season. If you think you're going to be very uncomfortable flying, you should go to the urgent care. They might give you a nasal spray that could help.

Maria, have you considered a neti pot? It may bring you some relief, especially if it's allergies. (And, because of the season even if it's viral/bacterial the tree sex is probably exacerbating the situation). Also, since you're so short on sleep, I'd go the Benedryl route. If it doesn't stop the dripping, it may push you over the edge to sleep. Feel better!

sj, I would just like to hear that you're free of all the troubles you're having with your current living situation.

Some fellow who bore a strong resemblance to my DH got up and made me waffles this a.m. and then did the laundry. I'm torn about wanting my old DH back or whether I like this imposter better.

Thanks. I appreciate that. It would be nice to spend weekends doing something other than looking at apartments and giving the evil eye to real estate people invading our home.

Speaking of allergies, I may have actually convinced TCG that he has them. It seems he gets a "cold" every time my allergies start acting up, on the same day in fact, but he has been stubbornly insisting for the past two years that he doesn't have allergies.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

I barely tolerate nasal sprays. I don't think I could deal with a neti pot. Aaand, there's no Benadryl in the house. It's a good thing there's a CVS less than a mile away.

Damned trees with their need for free love.

Sparky, if it's an imposter, tell him he's more than welcome to come here and impersonate my husband. (Seriously, that's a sweet DH you've got.)

TCG sounds a bit like my DH. When he was commuting to Palo Alto (2 hrs from Berkeley via public transit) he'd routinely short himself on sleep. For the first 3 weeks he'd announce on Thursday that he was getting sick and then miraculously he'd be all better on Saturday morning when he was able to sleep in a bit. When I pointed out the pattern he tried to deny it. Thereafter I referred to it as the "Thursday virus."

I got over my adversion to the neti pot after a series of sinus infections. A couple minutes of weirdness (and ewww at the beginning) was worth it for me. But I'm crossing my fingers that the Benedryl gives you some relief, or allows you a few hours of unconsciousness.

It's time for me to walk down to the farmer's market and see what they've got this week! Yipee!

I think part of it is that he is overworked too. He's still sleeping. I want to get a newspaper, but he is parked behind me, and I don't want to wake him up. Of course, if I don't wake him up soon, he won't get to sleep tonight and the pattern will start over for next week.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

It doesn't sound like anything a doctor could do anything about at this point, Maria. If you're going to fly, you mainly want to keep the dripping from becoming congestion. If Benadryl doesn't get it, try the generic Chlortrimeton. Different antihistamines work differently on different people. Claritin has no discernable affect on me. My allergist suggests taking two antihistamine pills at night. I hope it's not the Martian Death Flu.

What is even happening?

sj, I'm sorry to read about your uncle. I hope that his surgery went well and that he will recover well and have no more problems.

Oh, Maria. I'd probably take Benadryl and wait a day or two since there's no fever, but if you know you can't take the time to go to the doctor during the week, and since you're flying next week, you might want to go to urgent care. Big help I am.

Go imposter. Choose imposter!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Fay, it sounds like you've done your due diligence and this tattoo artist should be perfect for you. I support your decision!

In other much less fun news, a tanker truck loaded with gas blew up at 3am this morning and has melted part of the 580 freeway in Emeryville on the approach to the Bay Bridge.

Part of the freeway collapsed.

This is, of course, the very route I take almost daily ferrying Emmett back and forth to school, not to mention all the baseball.

It will now be FUBAR for months. Fuck.
