Angel: I appreciate you guys looking out for Connor all summer. It's just—he's confused. He needs time. That's all. Fred: Right. Time, and some corporal punishment with a large heavy mallet. Not that I'm bitter.

Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Aslo, P-C, ALL dating is a process. Either you meet someone at a party or from fandom or through online dating or this way or in line at the movies or, or, or.... The process doesn't matter. These women may not be someone you will like because they are coming to you this way, but, you know, they may not be someone you DON'T like either. You're single and gettign email about educated, possibly interesting, single women--enjoy that part of it.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Sunil, now is when you start sending out your version of your bio-data, don't forget.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I know it can't hurt to e-mail, but I keep trying to IGNORE this so I can perhaps happily interact with women in real life. "Hey, you want to have dinner sometime? By the way, I'm e-mailing with potential wives at the moment."

There's nothing saying you can't interact with women in real life while emailing women, too. The women that you're emailing aren't going to want to get married, like, tomorrow, right? It's not like, two emails, you like each other, OK, time to set a wedding date. Just think of it as another way to meet some women who might be interesting or fun. One of them might be your future wife. Maybe not. Either way, just relax.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Feh. We lost tonight 7-6. Which wouldn't annoy except defensive lapses gave away about three runs which would've been enough to win.

On the plus side some of my bottom-of-the-order hitters had their best games ever with three of them reaching the outfield for the first time all season.

On the minus side, Emmett had a whiny and negative attitude including these classics: "I don't want to warm up the pitcher" and "I hate playing shortstop."

Fuck you! I'm the Manager! Quit being a whiny bitch and take your position!

...is what I thought.

What I said was, "I need you to have a positive attitude and quit being so negative. Now go warm up Nicky."

On the plus side, Emmett pitched beautifully.

On the downside, Arabelle hit a screaming liner that was caught for an out and she cried her little heart out. (Because her big sister came to the game and brought all her Australian friends and Arabelle really really really wanted that hit.)

On the plus side, we got somebody out in a rundown between second and third.

On the downside, this team has beaten us twice and it pisses me off because I know we're a better team. But we haven't played close to our best against them.

Aww. Poor Arabelle. My dad came up once for my cousin's twins' football game. One of them got benched for back talking his dad instead of having his head in the game, and you could see his little shoulders just shaking under his helmet from crying so hard. Benched in front of his hero. Awful.

To his credit, Dad went over and quietly patted him on the shoulder and gave it a squeeze.
