I come from a family that speaks only plain-talk about illnesses and we all keep Merck Manuals, so I don't understand when folks can't talk about/name the disease. Possibly I've read too many books where the name of something holds special power, or strips the thing of its special powers, also, so I call a carcinoma a carcinoma.

I still haven't heard about our offer on the house for rent. I was so down yesterday afternoon that TCG dragged me out of the house to take a nice drive through the nearby towns I hadn't seen. This is part of what doesn't compute in my brain -- it would never happen in my family since we all question the doctors about what they're up to and want to see the reports and the pictures of our gooey insides. Also, don't the doctors have an ethical obligation to tell him his diagnosis so he can make his own decisions about care?
