Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Hey. New board.

I'm not sure, but I think I might have seen her too. I saw it when the original cast was still "in," but had understudies or standbys for Elphaba, Galinda, AND The Wizard (it was odd). But I don't remember if it was Kristy or the standby, Eden Espinosa (who I believe is playing Elphaba in L.A. right now) and I no longer have my playbill for the checking. She's definitely amazing.

My theater buddy and I are planning on going back pretty much every week now, since Friday is our theater night anyway. It's perfect!

When I saw it, Stephanie somebody was playing Elphaba. she'd been in Boy from Oz (ha) during the original casting. I thought that she was better than Idina Menzel.

Our wings are not tired

I was at CCM with both Kristy Cates and Shoshanna Bean. I actually designed more than one show with them as singers while I was there.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I saw it with most of the original cast, but it was during the couple of weeks when Norbert Leo Butz was injured, so Taye Diggs was Fiyero. (I love Taye, but he was clearly hadn't rehearsed that role enough.)

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Stephanie J. Block? I saw her in The Pirate Queen a couple of months ago. She was good, but the show was only so-so.

I saw Ana Gasteyer as Elphaba here in Chicago.

Hey. New board.

Stephanie Block, Vortex? She was in the touring company for a long time, and is supposed to be phenomenal.

That's neat ND! Did you actually talk to her? From what little I could tell tonight, she seemed like she would be pretty fun/funny. I would have introduced myself, but for the needing to leave.

Speaking of which, good night!

ETA: Also, I saw Ana Gasteyer as Elphaba here in NY, not too long ago. I thought she was decent, though not as good as the one I had seen the first time. Also realized I have no need to see Wicked again anytime soon - not a show that I felt grew on a repeated viewing.

Stephanie J. Block?

yeah, she was great. I remember hearing "The Wizard and I" and thinking "holy shit, Defying Gravity is going to be AWESOME" and it was. I was practically in tears, because I was so excited about it and it was better than I thought it would be.

Oh yeah, they were both undergrads while I was there as a grad student. I've gotten both of them in and out of wireless mics and took a few classes with them as well. We also ended up at a lot of the same parties. Knowing me I hit on both of them at some point.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I saw Stephanie here in LA. She was amazing.

For those keeping count:

Joe's # of Book Boxes - NOT including comics: 13
Aimee's # of Book Boxes - including books: 3

I swear I read.

Grr. I just spent 40 minutes looking for a photo. yes, at 2AM. I kept thinking that it would be in the next place I looked. it's of me right after my favorite haircut. I cannot find the damn picture. It's one of those I always thought, oh, I should scan that, but I DIDNT. and now I can't find it. Adding to the frustration is my housekeeper who likes to move shit, sometimes to places that are totally counterintuitive, so I sometimes can't find random shit until I'm looking for something else! I mean, I found pictures from my first year in college! ARGH.
