I'm glad you're feeling better, Ginger. But the not-talking thing is worrisome. What did the dr. say?
Spike's Bitches 35: We Got a History
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I just subbed to the DCistas list, in fact.
I used to be subbed to that list but..I'm not anymore? I don't really get how yahoo groups work. How do I subscribe to the list? (Am feeling quite stupid)
I still had a voice when I saw the doctor Monday. It went away a couple of hours later. I had an extended period of laryngitis a couple of years ago, and it turned out to be a nodule on my vocal chords. The treatment is not talking. If not talking for a couple of weeks doesn't do it, I think there's a plan B. Anyway, I'm going to give it a few more days of silence before panicking.

Thanks, Sparky! I tried looking for "dcistas" in the yahoo groups list and got nuthin'.
Really? Damn. So all she has to do under ADA is make sure sj can get into the room?
no, the university office lets the professor know what accomodations the professor must make (i.e. I had a student that I was required to allow to use a computer in class, so I couldn't do a pop quiz, for example)

Well, it's pretty much that the accomadations aren't up to the professor. There's a university office that decides for each student what accomadations they need, and tells the professor, and the professor has to provide whatever that list says.
x-post, of course
Why do people want me to work today? I want to make lists of stuff I need to pick up after work for my trip. I would like to daydream about my trip. I'd like to mentally review the outfits I'm taking. But no, work. Bah!
Also the project I'm working on before I leave is making me feel sad and helpless. I want to run out right now and start helping, but 1) I'm about to go on vacation and 2) Almost as soon as I started, I'd get frustrated and pound my little ineffectual fists up against byzantine and cruel government bureaucracy.
Chipper mood- gone. Hello, impotent rage, my old friend.
Jeepers, Ginger, I hope your voice comes back, stat. I've had the extended laryngitis on occasion (in my case, idiopathic, but it went away as mysteriously as it arrived, so I can't complain) and I know how frustrating it is. Especially when the treatment is "don't try to talk" - that's really hard to do! People talk to you and try to answer without even thinking about it. In short, don't be afraid to hang a dry-erase board around your neck if it will help.
Happy birthday beth! For real, this time. Yesterday was good practice, and I think I've got the hang of it now.
